Hour of Code This Week at Shore Middle School

Shore will be holding our third annual Hour of Code to coincide with international efforts to have students of all ages to participate in an Hour of Code at some point during this coming week. Shore students will participate through their lunch study hall period and should log at least ONE HOUR of coding next week - keep track of the time you spend coding next week because we will collect that information from students, staff, and parents. Let Mr. Baker know if you participated and how many hours you logged via email at Baker@mentorschools.org!

Shore Middle School was the first school in the state of Ohio to win $10,000 for our building efforts to have EVERY student and staff participate in the inaugural Hour of Code three years ago thanks to Mrs. Terri Haught!

Shore Collecting for U.S. Soldiers and Families

Mr. Toot's classes are spearheading Shore Middle School efforts for a collection for the troops through Friday, December 18. Items needed include the following and may be dropped off through December 18 to Room 212:

Items needed for the soldiers include: small individual snacks (chips, pretzels, nuts, etc.), granola bars or energy bars, beef jerky/summer sausage, individually wrapped cookies, snack cakes, cheese crackers, cup of soup, mac and cheese, pasta dinner, canned tuna and chicken, powdered drink mixes, Zip-lock bags, candy, gum, Travel sized hygiene items, lip balm, eye drops, disposable hand warmers, foot powder, baby wipes, word games/puzzle books, DVD’s, hand-held electronic devices, video games.

For families of soldiers: standard sized hygiene items, household cleaning items, laundry soap , non-perishable items, diapers, gift cards - gas cards, grocery store, Marc’s, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, etc. Thanks to Mr. Gatlin for providing the inspiration for this project for Shore’s students.

Shore Middle school is in Mentor, Ohio and has approximately 600 students total in grades 6-8. We are 1:1 iPad school and working diligently to incorporate the responsible use of technology into instructional practices to meet the learning needs of our students.
