Quick Reminders
1. Orientation Nights:
We will host an orientation "night" for your families THIS THURSDAY, January 23rd at both Doherty High School and Russell Middle School. Families are invited to come to their newly assigned school location with their student any time from 4:30pm-8:00pm. There is no formal agenda. Consider this more an orientation drop in where staff will meet you as you walk in and guide you through the new space.
- Where: Doherty High School and Russell Middle School
- Date: Thursday, January 23rd
- Time: 4:30pm until 8:00pm. Come anytime!
2. Drop Off Times, Shuttle Departure, and Grab n Go Breakfast
- Shuttles will depart Jenkins Middle School every morning at 8:30am. If you are dropping your student(s) off in the morning, staff supervision will begin at 8:10am.
- Students will be served a grab n go breakfast in the morning that they can take and eat with them on the shuttle.
- If you plan to drop your student(s) directly at Russell or Doherty, we will have staff on site for student supervision before and after school. Please help us identify the correct number of staff necessary to support by taking this survey: Early Arrival Interest (Doherty and Russell)
- Students arriving directly to Doherty and Russell will also be provided with grab n go breakfasts.
- If you haven't yet, please take the Transportation Survey to help us provide the accommodations your student(s) need.
New Updates as of 1/22/25
2. Slides from Community Meeting on 1/22/25 can be found HERE: You will find additional details about transportation, arrival, and dismissal on these slides, along with some "day in the life" walkthroughs for Jenkins students transitioning to Doherty and Russell on Friday.
3. Musical rehearsal will move to Russell. Tech week and final performances will still be held in the Palmer Auditorium. We have acquired transportation from Doherty to Russell so that 7th and 8th-grade students in the musical can get to rehearsal.
4. A school-wide assembly was held on Friday, January 17th with students to share details about the relocation in order to support their understanding of their new classrooms, dismissal times, etc. Students should have come home with a one-pager that includes the same information shared. They also have a separate sheet with the new bell schedule.
5. Students have access to a google form where they can ask the Leadership Team (Principal and Assistant Principals) any questions they might have about the relocation. We answer as soon as we see them. Make sure you students know they can continue to input questions over the weekend and we will try our best to respond.
6. The website is being updated frequently with new information. Please check there for updates.

Update from Superintendent Gaal
Today, the district coordinated with a professional moving company to relocate all Jenkins teachers and their materials to their new school locations at Doherty High School and Russell Middle School. Over the next two days, we’ll continue to do all we can to assist teachers in settling into their new spaces. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our community partners and supporters who helped with packing, provided food and drinks, and offered their support during this transition. Your generosity has been invaluable, and we are grateful for your continued assistance in the coming weeks.
Ensuring the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We are committed to identifying comprehensive and permanent solutions for the Jenkins building.
This morning, our structural engineering team at Jensen Hughes shared that in the process of compiling their preliminary findings, they have identified a time-sensitive need for a geotechnical engineering survey. This survey will assess the foundation and soil conditions, which are critical to completing their analysis and determining next steps for remediation.
We are now securing a geotechnical expert to provide the necessary information to move forward with a full report and next steps.
We remain committed to transparency and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
-Superintendent Michael Gaal
