Cell Phone Policy Reminder
Dear Families of the Bay,
We are reinforcing our school’s cell phone policy to ensure a focused learning environment. If students are caught with a cell phone or earbuds during school hours, the items will be confiscated and turned into the office lock box. Students can pick them up at the end of the day.
Please note that repeated violations may result in an after-school reflection session, where students will learn more about the importance of maintaining a cell phone-free learning space to better help them understand why this policy is implemented.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep our classrooms distraction-free.
October: Bully Awareness Month - Wednesday 10/16 WEAR ORANGE
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and our school is joining the nationwide effort to raise awareness and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. This month, we will focus on teaching students how to recognize, prevent, and stand against bullying.
We encourage you to have conversations at home to reinforce these values. Here are some talking points to guide your discussions:
What is bullying? Talk about what bullying looks like (physical, verbal, social, or online) and how it can affect others emotionally and mentally.
The Importance of speaking up: Encourage your student to speak up if they see bullying or if they are being bullied. Remind them that telling a trusted adult is an important step in stopping it.
Kindness and Empathy: Stress the importance of treating others with kindness, even in difficult situations. Help your child understand how their words and actions can impact others.
Inclusion and Acceptance: Discuss the value of accepting others for their differences and making everyone feel welcome.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our school is a safe and supportive palace for all students. Together, we can prevent bullying and create a community where everyone feels respected.
Student/Teacher/ Parent Conferences are Coming Soon!
Fall Conferences will be held in person/ by phone/ or zoom October 22 - October 24. Your student will attend along with you. We are also providing the option for remote conferencing via Zoom or by phone if this works best for your family. Conferences are 20 minutes and will be held with your students' homeroom teacher.
Encouraging Timeliness: A Reminder About Our Tardy Policy
We’d like to gently remind everyone about the importance of being on time and prepared for class each day. Arriving promptly sets a positive tone for the day and helps create a focused, productive learning environment. To support this, we have a tardy policy in place to ensure consistency.
What Is Considered Tardy?
- If your student arrives within 10 minutes after the bell, they’ll be marked tardy.
- Arrivals more than 10 minutes late will be recorded as an unexcused absence for that class.
What Happens When Tardies Accumulate?
- If a student has 3 or more tardies in one day, they’ll attend a lunch regroup session, where they can reflect on the importance of punctuality and develop strategies to improve.
- If a student reaches 5 or more tardies within a week, they’ll be scheduled for a 1-hour session at our After School Restorative Center (ARC).
We appreciate your support in encouraging good habits and fostering a respectful, timely school culture!
