Principal's Message to Hornet Families for the week of October 25th, 2021
Great evening fantastic families,
Week one of the new term went really well. We were happy to see our scholars hit the ground running with success on the Austin ISD Short Cycle Assessments and in the classrooms. The first term we focused on building community and relationships as we adjusted back to somewhat normal schooling. This term we shift our focus back to learning and assuring each and every scholar in the building in being challenged academically and socially. We continue our disconnect to reconnect expectation this term to have students make new friends and connections in the classrooms and cafeteria. Our teachers will focus on formative assessment and progress monitoring these next couple of weeks to assure students in the classroom are learning along the way and implementing interventions for those that were not successful in the first term. This upcoming week is Red Ribbon/ Love Your Brain week and we have fun dress up days prepared for students while we teach about the importance of avoiding drug and alcohol use. Please read below to assure your scholar is aware of themes for the days and read the parent letter in the button below to assure you are aware of what’s happening also. Announcement Alert:Parent pick up cut off time will now be at 2:30. Parent will no longer be allowed to pick up students after 2:30 unless for an emergency.
This will help eliminate some of the traffic through the main office at the end of the day in which will help us better serve your students. Our Hornet football team will play their final game of the regular season Monday night at Nelson Field at 7:30p. Please join us as we hope to end our season undefeated. Thank you for your support and belief in us as your scholar’s primary educational provider. Thank you for choosing Kealing and Austin ISD.

NATIONAL PRINCIPAL MONTH
Each October, National Principals Month recognizes the essential role that principals play in making a school great.
Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success. Each October, NASSP, NAESP, and AFSA seek to honor these unsung heroes for their tireless efforts in pursuit of excellence in education.
National Principals Month is a widely recognized celebration of the principalship, marked by national and state resolutions supporting the event, as well as acknowledgements from U.S. Senators and Representatives, and top government officials. However, the most important National Principals Month celebrations are the ones that take place in schools and communities across the country.

The PTA is looking for a few volunteers to help set-up an additional outdoor eating area by the track. We need a volunteer who can be at the school to receive the picnic table delivery and supervise the assembly (they will assemble the tables for us). We are also looking for a few volunteers who can help us put up the canopies that have already been delivered. We can work with volunteer availability to schedule the delivery of the picnic tables and canopy set-up.
