Mustang News - September 20 , 2024
From The Principal
We are excited to announce that we are a finalist for the Colorado Masonic High School of the Year Award for the second year in a row! This is particularly thrilling as schools are selected based on what students share about your school during senior scholarship interviews, which is a huge testament to the positive experiences of students and their pride in our community!
Also, thank you to the families who joined us for SAC on Wednesday. We really appreciate your commitment to supporting our school in getting better at getting better.
Looking to next week, we’re pumped for Homecoming! Please note that Friday, 9/27 students will have an early release with classes concluding at 11:30 am and lunch ending at 12 pm so that our students and staff can participate in or watch the Homecoming Parade in downtown Manitou, which starts at 1 pm. Go Stangs!
Have a wonderful weekend!

A Word From The World Language Department
Spanish 1 students needed to create a comic strip about Introducciones y Saludos (Introductions and Greetings) in Spanish. It was a great opportunity for them to practice the target language and to use their creativity to come up with characters, backgrounds, and create a story. Below you will find the work of Brynlee H.
Spanish 1 students were working on a warm up activity, reviewing concepts about numbers in the target language by using a dry erase marker to translate numbers to Spanish and find the words in the word search shown on the TV.
A Word From The Spanish Club
As part of the immersion into Spanish speaking countries' culture, members of the Spanish Club have started to learn the basic steps of Salsa dancing. They'll continue to learn more steps within the following weeks.

Shown below are personal still life examples from Drawing class! Students had to use a continuous line for each drawing.

A Word From The Social Studies Department
This week, students in Mr. Duff's U.S. History class are diving deep into their favorite Civil War topics by creating a podcast! Each student is selecting a significant event of their own choosing, researching its impact, and presenting their understanding verbally. The goal of the project is to combine historical analysis with modern storytelling, giving students the opportunity to explore history in a way that is both personal and innovative. The finished podcasts will be shared with the class, allowing for a collaborative learning experience where students can learn from each other’s research and interpretations.
Pictured are Juniors Keerin W. and Marisa F. recording their podcast on the Emancipation Proclamation!
