The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
By: John Boyne
Setting: Aushwitz or "Outwith"
The story takes place mostly in Aushwitz. Bruno's family moved to Aushwitz and Bruno didn't like moving there. Bruno likes exploring and Gretel likes history through most of the book. The dad works at the concentration camp in Aushwitz, and the mom was very protective of her kids.
Main Conflict
The main conflict was Bruno being forced to move to Aushwitz when he did not want to move at all and lose his only friends there. He didn't know what was going on and what was going to happen. in the beginning Bruno wanted to go back home and meet his friends again because he didn't like it there in Aushwitz, because it was boring for him just playing all by himself. One event in the beginning Bruno built a tire swing and fell off and scraped his knee; Pavel helped him treat it with a bandaid.
Middle of the book support for conflict
This is when Bruno built a tire swing and then went exploring. He found a boy named Shmuel, and they both found out that they were the same age and born on the same day. The reason Bruno did those things is because he was bored and wanted to do something fun.
The resolution at the end of the book
Bruno and Shmuel planned a last adventure together and Bruno realized that Shmuel was his best friend. They held hands in what they thought was to keep the cold and rain out so they wouldn't get cold, but it was the gas chamber they were in. His family soon realized that Bruno was not coming back.
