Principal's Message
Good evening Mira Loma Families,
The end of our ninth week, and the beginning of our tenth week of school were highlighted by our Homecoming Rally last Friday, Homecoming Football Game last Friday Night, and our Homecoming Dance that occurred on Saturday night. It was great to see all the students who attended enjoying themselves and having fun! Great job to all of our Class Advisors and students for their participation in the float building activities. Thank you to our Student Government students, and our Activities Director, Mr. Posner, for all of your work to make our Homecoming Week a success!
On Wednesday evening of this week, our Mira Loma Band and Choir Programs, in collaboration with the band programs of Arcade Middle School and Churchill Middle School, performed an amazing Band Concert! It was a wonderful evening of music and great to see the partnerships with our primary feeder middle schools. Excellent job by our Band Director, Mrs. Sonia Takanikos, and all of our Band and Choir Performers!
On Friday of this week, I had the opportunity to visit our SAYS program on campus. In partnership with UC Davis, Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) is a social justice movement that empowers youth and transforms education by creating platforms for critical literacy, access to higher education, youth voice and civic engagement. SAYS elevates the voices of students as the authors of their own lives and agents of change. It was great to meet our Site Director, Mrs. Coco, and our students who are participating in the SAYS program on campus!
This week was also an exciting week for field trips, with Mrs. Garzona, Mr. Lineback, and a group of students visiting the Jelly Belly Factory on 10/22, Mrs. Alexander and a group of students visiting Sacramento State University on 10/23, Mrs. Grueneberger and a group of students visiting the California Museum on 10/23, and Mrs. Kelly, Mr. Champion, and a group of students attending the Forestry Challenge on 10/24 and 10/25.
Athletics continue to be in full swing this week, with Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Girls Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Football, Boys and Girls Water Polo, and Girls Golf all competing. Thank you to our student-athletes, coaches, and parents for your continued dedication and positive representation of Mira Loma High school. As our Fall Sports Season begins drawing to a close in the next few weeks, our Winter Sports season is quickly approaching. Please be sure to begin scheduling your sports physicals now to ensure that athletes are cleared in time for participation.
This weekend is the 8th Annual Flat SAC Invitational Cross Country Meet at Gibson Ranch. This is the largest Cross Country meet in our region. Please consider coming out to support the Mira Loma High School Cross Country Program!
We encourage families to continue to have discussions with your children about school safety and how to report if they have knowledge of a concern. Please see the yellow “Safety First” icon below for additional information about how to report a concern. We look forward to continuing our conversations about school safety and growing our partnerships with students and families, in an effort to keep our campus safe.
Please reference our Mira Loma Student Government Newsletter below for important information and upcoming events being organized by Student Government.
Thank you for your partnership and dedication to Mira Loma High School and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Kaden Bahner
