Pyramid of Success
Coach Wooden believed and taught that the most important responsibility each of us had to ourselves was to do everything we could to achieve our own potential. He offered his Pyramid of Success and his definition of Success as a guide, stepping stones to help young people understand what it really takes to make the effort – 100% – to fulfill their potential and do their best. Every couple of weeks, our students will focus on one or two character traits from Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success. Positive examples of students exemplifying the character traits will be recognized with the Pyramid of Success Awards. Classroom lessons will reinforce elements of the Pyramid of Success. Additionally, whole school assemblies will feature character traits from Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success.
For the next two weeks, we will be focusing on Cooperation:
- Cooperation. “Working together with others required teamwork. If you wish to be heard, listen. Cooperation means working together in all ways to accomplish the common goal. It also allows individuals to move forward together instead of going off in different directions. Two horses pulling a wagon must move in the same direction or their wagon does not move.”

Annual Costume Parade Delights at Adams Elementary
This year’s Annual Costume Parade was a huge success, bringing out the creativity and community spirit that make Adams Elementary such a special place! Students arrived in a variety of fantastic costumes, from classic superheroes and princesses to original characters and clever group themes. The parade route was lined with excited parents and family members, who came out in full support, cheering on the students and capturing memories.
We are grateful to all the families who participated and helped make this event a memorable one for our school. It was wonderful to see everyone come together to celebrate creativity, imagination, and, of course, a little Halloween fun. Special thanks to our custodial team and staff for preparing the campus and making sure the event went smoothly.
Events like this remind us of the joy in learning and community connections at Adams Elementary. We’re already looking forward to next year’s parade and more opportunities to share in our students' creativity!
Fifth grade students at Adams Elementary had the opportunity to visit the Newport Beach Sea Base this week. The Sea Base provides a program called Journey to the Ocean Academy which is a hands-on science program for our 5th graders.
Adams Elementary fourth graders had the opportunity to go to Segerstrom Center for the Arts today. Our students got to see an amazing performance. Adams Elementary is dedicated to expanding arts education each and every day.
Our Adams Elementary sixth graders had the opportunity to visit Tewinkle Middle School on Tuesday. They participated in a career exploration event where students got to see all of the great electives and career-based opportunities that TeWinkle has to offer. Our All-Stars had a great time!!!
Adams Elementary Celebrates Trunk or Treat and Harvest Festival!
This October, Adams Elementary hosted two fantastic community events that brought families together to celebrate the spirit of fall. Our annual Trunk or Treat event was a resounding success, with families arriving in creative costumes, children eagerly gathering candy, and the school buzzing with laughter and excitement. We are thrilled with the amazing turnout and grateful to everyone who joined us to make it a memorable evening for all.
Just as exciting was our Harvest Festival, a heartwarming celebration that welcomed students and families to enjoy games, delicious treats, and delightful activities. Special thanks go out to Calvary Chapel for their incredible support, as they provided volunteers who helped make the day smooth and fun. Their talented face painters and balloon artists were huge hits with the students, creating memories that will last well beyond the season!
We couldn’t have pulled off these fantastic events without the hard work and dedication of our incredible PTA. From organizing the Trunk or Treat festivities to planning each activity at the Harvest Festival, the PTA’s tireless efforts truly shone. Thank you to our PTA for your commitment to making Adams Elementary a vibrant and connected community.
Here’s to many more celebrations together!
Last week’s best attendance award was for Mrs. Dorain’s class, they had 100% attendance!
Did you know that absences and tardiness can impact the entire classroom? When a teacher has to slow down to help students catch up, it can affect the overall learning experience for everyone.
Here are some tips to help your student with good attendance:
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Keep your child healthy and make sure your child has the required shots.
- Develop backup plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor or another parent.
- Try to schedule medical appointments and extended trips when school isn't in session.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- If your child must stay home due to extended, ask the teacher or office for resources and ideas to continue learning at home.

Our Fall Fundraiser has begun!
This year, we are partnering with Noonan's Christmas Trees, a local, family-owned company that is willing to donate a portion of each holiday item sold to help fundraise for our school!
Think about everyone in your neighborhood who puts a tree up in their home, or has a wreath hanging on their door... now think about how much we could raise at our school if each student sold ONE item!
Review the attached material and if you have any questions, contact our VP of Fundraising, Morgan Moreau at adamspta.fundraising@gmail.com
All sales forms are due to the front office by Friday November 8th!
Yes, that's right, the fundraiser ends NEXT WEEK! Let's get out there and see what we can do!

Volunteer Information
We are happy to welcome volunteers to our campus. Volunteering is a perfect opportunity to become more familiar with our school and support your child’s teacher.
Adams volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application through the NMUSD website and check in at the office each time through our Raptor System. Please see the link: NMUSD Volunteers. Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification. All cleared volunteers will then complete an orientation at Adams.
Please note that field trip volunteers need to go through the volunteer/visitor system before attending a field trip.
Attendance
Attendance is very important to a child’s success in school. Students are expected to be here each day on time and ready to learn. However, we understand that there are occasions where an absence may occur. Please be sure to contact the absence hotline to report all absences at 714-424-4702.
Did you know? Research shows that chronically absent students (students with 10% absences over the school year = 18 absences) are less likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade, are more likely to score lower on standardized tests, get suspended in middle school, and are at least four times more likely to not complete high school.
Attendance Matters!!!
Safety Protocols
All teachers and Adams staff have been trained on the Standard Response Protocol. This protocol allows everyone on site to use clear and common language during emergency responses. Whenever emergency drills are held at Adams Elementary (dates are all posted on the Adams Elementary website), we will inform our parent community through our weekly newsletter.
