How to Protect Ourselves from Secondary Trauma?
In education, school counselors are not the only individuals that can be impacted by secondary trauma. All educators who work with students can and most likely have experienced some level of secondary trauma. It is important that all educators know how to recognize and deescalate the secondary trauma they may be experiencing.
The article below written by The National Child Traumatic Stress Network highlights facts about secondary trauma, as well as solutions for a healthier YOU. Consider sharing this article with all campus educators, or ask for a few minutes at the next faculty meeting to discuss this type of trauma that isn't always addressed or easily identified. You could be saving someone's life.
