DHES News and Notes

Educating every child for confidence today and contribution tomorrow.
A Message From the Principal
DHES Families,
State testing is underway. Please be sure to have your 4th or 5th grade students here on time every day. Remember to encourage a quality breakfast and the importance of taking their time and doing their best work. Our students are well prepared and ready to show what they know!!
REMINDER—As spring has come and warmer weather will follow (we hope), please remember the DHES dress code. We encourage modesty in our clothing choices. We also discourage students from wearing “flip flop” type shoes. Sandals are fine as long as they have straps around the heels. This is due to potential dangers on the playground and stairways. Thank you for your understanding and willingness to follow these school dress guidelines.
Next week is Staff Appreciation week. I hope we can all show our wonderful staff how much they are loved! Thanks for all your support.
Have a great weekend!

⭐Friendly Reminder⭐
It has been a 5th grade tradition to create a “Then & Now” Slideshow for the 5th grade Assembly and I am volunteering to help collect pictures. Last week, I sent and email and Remind message asking for your help.
👉At your earliest convenience, please send me two digital pictures of your child. One from when they were younger and one from this year. They don’t have to be school pictures. The candid ones actually make for a more interesting slideshow, as long as they are school appropriate. Please include your child’s name.
Optional: Any group pictures you may have that feature multiple 5th graders are also welcome. Any pictures from field trips, birthday parties, sporting events, etc. Please include children’s names.
Please send me your child’s photos no later than May 26th so they can be included in the slideshow. However, I will take them as soon as you are ready. You can email me or send them to me via Remind.
Thank you so much!

From the School Nurse
The sun is out - Yay!
Families, you may send sunscreen to school with your student without a doctor’s note, in order to avoid sunburns, under the following district policy/procedure:
Over-the-counter topical sunscreen products may be possessed and used by students, parents, and school staff, without a written prescription or note from a licensed healthcare provider, if the following conditions are met:
The product is regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration as an over-the-counter sunscreen product; and
If possessed by a student, the product is provided to the student by their parent or guardian.
Students who possess over-the-counter topical sunscreen products that meet the above criteria may carry up to 8 ounces at a time, preferably with the container in a plastic bag.
Students may not share sunscreen; they must bring their own. Please take some time to teach your child how to apply their sunscreen safely.
Thank you,
