Chesapeake Science Point Elementary
Message from The Principal
Dear Chesapeake Science Point Elementary Families,
As the summer days begin to wind down, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the new school year ahead. Our second year at Chesapeake Science Point Elementary promises to be an incredible journey, and I cannot wait to see the enthusiasm and energy our students will bring as they walk through the doors.
Our theme for the year, "Unstoppable," reflects our commitment to providing an environment where every student can thrive and reach their fullest potential. The first year of our journey was a testament to the dedication and resilience of our students, staff, and families, and I am confident that this year will be even more extraordinary.
Warm regards,
Tabatha Camacho
Principal

Monday and Wednesday is Math homework and Tuesday and Thursday is Reading homework.
Uniform Policy
This uniform policy was shared with all families at Enrollment Sessions in the Spring of 2023 and during the Dress Rehearsals in August 2023. Please review it in its entirety.
Please be aware that Spirit Wear (including CSPES sweatshirts) are not uniform compliant
Shoes must be mostly black with black or white laces. Colored boots, shoes with patterns, multi-colored sneakers, etc. are not uniform compliant

Students may wear black or navy blue leggings underneath their skirts, skorts, etc., to add a layer of warmth.
Attendance
This attendance regulation/policy was shared with families during Dress Rehearsals in August 2023.
Attendance is critical to your child’s academic, social, and emotional well being. They miss much more than just classroom instruction when they are out.
If your child misses 2 or more days of school in a one month period, they are considered to be chronically absent. You will receive notices documenting your child’s attendance as we follow state-mandated processes for monitoring attendance.
Unlawful absences of 10 or more consecutive days will result in your child being withdrawn from the school
Clubs
Clubs dismiss promptly at 3:40. Please arrive at 3:40. If you are late more than twice, your child will not be permitted to attend club activities.
We understand that emergencies occur. If, for some reason, you will be late, please notify our front office immediately 443-883-3919.
Traffic Patterns
Please adhere to the one-way traffic rules at all times. This includes during arrival, dismissal, and enrichment pick up/drop off
New: If you are dropping your child off late, picking them up early, or picking them up midday, you will also need to adhere to the one-way traffic pattern
Morning and Afternoon Parent Line
Please be kind and courteous to each other in our parent pick up lines.
Please take turns merging from 2 lanes to 1
Follow the directions of all staff members
You must be on campus at 7:47 to go through the drop off line. At 7:48, Mrs. Schlegel and Mr. Chandler will direct you to park and walk your child in through the main office. You must sign your child in on the left iPad.
If you need a refresher on traffic patterns in the morning and afternoon, please click here.
If traffic is preventing you from turning left onto Signature Drive, please make a loop and line up in a queue along the curb, entering campus by turning right.
Bus Behavior Expectations
Please review the bus contract that you agreed to prior to the start of the year. You are responsible for the information in this contract.
Please familiarize yourself with the AACPS Student Handbook, specifically pages 22 & 23 of this document.
Birthday Celebrations
Food-related items for student birthdays are strictly prohibited
If you would like to send in a non-food item with your child to celebrate their birthday, please coordinate with your child’s classroom teacher.

All parents volunteering as club advisors are required to complete the AACPS volunteer process. If you have not completed this process, please visit this link to learn more about it. Share your Alma Mater pride with our CSPE Students
We are excited to announce a new project at our school, and we need your help! We are planning to hang college pennants in our school's hallway to inspire our students and provide them with a glimpse of the diverse educational paths they can pursue. To make this display even more meaningful, we would love to include short videos from our parents sharing their college experiences.
If you are interested, please consider recording a brief video (1-2 minutes) telling us which college you attended and why you loved it. Your stories will add a personal touch to the pennants and offer valuable context to our students.
To participate, simply fill out this form and upload your video. We greatly appreciate your support in making this project a success!
Thank you for your time and contribution.
We need your help!
We would love to have you volunteer. Please visit aacps.org/page/2179 to complete the volunteer video regarding sexual harassment and complete the corresponding form.
