As we approach the winter break, I want to sincerely thank you for your partnership and support throughout the first half of the school year.
This season is a time for reflection, celebration, and togetherness. I encourage you take this time to create special memories, embrace the spirit of the holidays, and recharge for the exciting months to come. When we return on January 2nd, we look forward to continuing our journey of growth and learning with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Please remember that our school office will be closed from December 23rd to January 1st. Please feel free to reach out via email if there’s anything urgent before or after this time.

Next week is Holiday Spirit Week and we are looking forward to seeing our students decked out in style!

Winter Concert
Please come and support the PBHS Music Department and its students at our annual winter concert on December 19th at 7PM. The concert features the Jazz Singers, Gospel Choir, Orchestra, Concert Band, and Pianists. The event is free and free-will donations are welcome.
Seal of Biliteracy Opportunity
There is one more opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to earn the Seal of Biliteracy this year on January 14th. The assessment costs $21 for Juniors and is free for Seniors. Read all information about the Seal of Biliteracy and access important links here.

Please consider donating snacks to our amazing PB Staff. If you would like to contribute, please consider dropping any of the following items to our main office:
Chips, cookies, granola bars, soda, water, juice, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc.
We would also like to collect gift cards to give to our staff at Paint Branch.
If you have any questions about making donations, please contact Ms. Powell at 240-740-9900.
Course Registration Information for 25-26 School Year
All registration materials are available on grade level Canvas classes. Please encourage students to talk to teachers and complete the registration form this week in preparation for meeting with counselors in January.
Athletics Update with Coach Dillard
The Bocce team kick off their season Monday at home vs. Richard Montgomery at 3:30pm. Come out and cheer on the 2x division champs! See attached for the schedule for the rest of the season.
The Wrestling Team finished in second place at the SSGT Cartwright Memorial Duals, going 9-1 for the weekend. Only losing to the host team Walkersville. Matthew Le was named Outstanding Wrestler in his weight class.... Boasting an impressive 10-0 record at the 2-day tournament.
Varsity and JV Boys basketball improved to 3-0 with the Friday night win over Einstein! The Lady Panthers put on a show at home vs Einstein but came up short losing both games. We are so proud of this group of young athletes.
We are all set to host Springbrook in a Varsity Doubleheader at Panther Gym this week! Girls tip off at 5:30pm followed by boys at 7:15pm! Please reference the attached flyer for fan expectations for this contest.
Help Wanted!! We are in dire need of adult volunteers to help run concessions during home contests! In addition to food items... We would like to sell spirit wear. If you are free.. .email Dessalyn_S_Dillard@mcpsmd.org with your availability. We need help beginning this week!

Signs of Suicide Lessons
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is committed to ensuring that all students are able to learn and grow in school communities where they are safe and supported. In order to support and educate our youth, MCPS continues to enhance the suicide prevention curriculum by implementing the Signs of Suicide (SOS) Prevention Program in all secondary schools.
SOS lessons will be done through Math classes next week by our Counseling team. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Darlene Jackson, the head of our counseling department.
MCPS Student Scholarships & Awards Opportunities
There are MCPS Student Scholarships & Award opportunities for seniors seeking funding for college, university, and career/technical education.
The primary goal for our scholarships and awards is to fund students who are passionate about pursuing educational goals, and face opportunity gaps in achieving those goals.
To be eligible for any of our student scholarships and awards, students must:
· Be an MCPS senior.
· Graduate with class of 2025.
· Plan to pursue education the academic year after high school graduation
Opportunities include, but are not limited to, funding for scholars who: Plan to pursue, Cybersecurity, Career & technical education, Education, with a commitment to supporting an organization, activity, &/or cause within the Asian diaspora, Education, with a commitment to returning to MCPS to teach, Health care, Higher education at an Historically Black College or University, Minority-Serving Institution, Predominantly Black Institution, or Tribal College,
