Wildcat Weekly 10/28-11/1

Hi Wildcats! 🐾
Hi Wildcats!
A big thank you to Christina Crandall and Darlene Miller for planning and facilitating a week of Red Ribbon Week activities and school spirit days. We greatly appreciate their work to create learning activities for all students about making healthy choices.
Another big thank you to Andrea Chamberlin, Christina Crandall, Darlene Miller, and Kelly Davis for your hard work to make Fall Family Night so much fun! It was a great event and really fun to come together as a community.
A reminder about attendance this week...We typically see lower attendance rates on 11/1 and wanted to remind out Wildcats about the importance of coming to school. We miss our students when they are not here and they miss learning experiences that are crucial to their continued growth and development. Thanks for your partnership to increase school attendance on Nov. 1; we hope to see you here and at Friday Flag :)
We are looking forward to another fun week at Pomerado!

👻 October Fun 🎃
Costumes
Students are permitted to wear a costume to school on Thursday, Oct. 31. Please remember we are a preschool-5th grade school so we would love if students avoided scary and gory costumes so that little ones are not frightened. Masks can be worn during our Fall Costume parade, but should be put away after that. Any weapons that are part of a costume (even fake ones) need to be left at home.
Parade
Our annual Fall Costume Parade will start at 9:00 on Oct. 31 and students will circle through the school with their class so that we can see everyone’s costumes. Parents are invited to attend and watch. You may enter campus through the upper gate at 8:45 and can stand on the playground to watch students walk by. After the parade ends you will exit out the top gate. We are happy to have you here, and appreciate you following this procedure.
Treats
Due to the many allergies and food sensitivities among our students, if you would like to send something in for a treat on 10/31, we request that you send in FOOD FREE options. We encourage items such as pencils, stickers, or bookmarks.
If you are helping with a classroom party and/or activity please refer to the district Smart Snack Standards as you plan. (attached)
Attendance Reminder for This Week
This week is a full week of school for elementary students. However, on Monday, October 28th our district’s middle schools and high schools have a professional growth day.
We look forward to seeing our Wildcats on Monday!
California School Parent Survey, 2024-2025
The purpose of this survey is to obtain parent perceptions about the school.
Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.
· This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data. You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you. Simply skip any such questions.
· All questions apply to this school only.
· The results are for the use of your district. The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING THE SURVEY
If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

Book Fair Wrap Up...and the fun continues!!
Our Fall Literati Book Fair was a huge success! Students and families were able to explore lots of fun and exciting new titles while helping raise book-buying funds for our school library. Our Book Fair would not be possible without all the AMAZING parent volunteers that helped throughout the week and we are so thankful for their time and support!
New this year! 😻 Library fundraising will continue year-round with our new online Literati Store, which means you can shop for books and more - AND help raise money for our school library - anytime! Please keep an eye out for the Literati Holiday Catalog coming home with your student in the near future, filled with tons of amazing books, educational games and activity sets perfect for gift-giving season.
To browse and shop our year-round online store, please visit: https://literati.com/store/?school=pomerado-elementary-school-poway-ca
We encourage you to share this link with family and friends that might like to do a little holiday shopping for your student or other young readers!

Wildcat Run
Our Wildcats are doing an amazing job fundraising for our Wildcat Run. We hit the second goal of $10,000! The students enjoyed bubbles before school and more raffle prizes. The run is on November 14th so there is still plenty of time to get your students signed up to start fundraising and earning prizes. FundHub Mrs. Vallejo's class is in first place. Let's give her some competition!
Running Club
Our running club starts tomorrow and will be every day before school from 8:25-8:40am. We need parents to help count student laps especially on Wednesday mornings. You can use an app on your phone to scan runners as they pass. Sign up here to volunteer! https://evite.me/2q6GGbHaer
Our lead volunteer, Tiffany Sherbondy, will be able to provide you with the app and other information before your first day. Thanks so much in advance.
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our Fall Family Night! A huge thank you to our leads of the event, Darlene Gan Miller and Christina Crandall and to all our amazing volunteers who helped out and/or donated items. Check out pictures from the event on the Pomerado Parent Connect Facebook page!
Happy Halloween and have a great week,
