Dear Soleng Tom Families,
WOW!!!! Spring break is just around the corner! Where has the time gone? These past two months were very busy: Track started, our Spell-A-Thon was a big success, we held our Kinder Kickoff, and of course held Parent-Teacher conferences and celebrated Rodeo.
SPELL-A-THON
A huge Thank-You to our PTSA and parents who supported and volunteered to make our Spell-A-Thon a great success. Our top 50 fundraisers had great prizes to select from. Thank you for supporting our PTSA and helping fund many wonderful events and activities at Soleng Tom through your generous donations and hard work. The Principal Challenge was met and now principal Dotson will be 'Silly Stringed".
STUDENT SAFETY
As mentioned before, we can’t stress the importance of keeping our students safe, especially around our parking lots. That is why we ask you all to please exercise patience and courtesy when dropping-off /picking-up your child (ren). Please remember that our bus bay is not to be used as a drop-off/pick-up area. The parking area just past the bus bay is for staff parking only. Parents walking students to the playground please utilize the walkway on the east side of the parking lot and the crosswalk on Camino Quince. Also, we have had instances where vehicles are parked just past the 15 MPH speed limit sign by the wash east of the school which has created a problem for our busses not being able to squeeze by the sign and the vehicle. Please be aware of this if you are utilizing this area for parking after school.
TAX CREDIT DONATIONS
We can always use tax credit donations if you're an Arizona resident! Arizona Law allows Public School Tax Credits donations made during 2024, or donations made from January 1, 2025, through April 15, 2025, to be claimed on the 2024 Arizona Income Tax return. If you have additional questions with regards to claiming of tax credits, please consult with your tax professional or go to the Arizona Department of Revenue.
ABSENCES and TARDIES
Regular and punctual attendance is essential for optimum learning, growth and development of students. Although life events can interfere with the responsibility that parents and guardians have of making sure students arrive on time, excessive tardiness signals a need to evaluate morning procedures to eliminate tardiness. Interruptions due to tardiness take away from learning time and are disruptive to the entire class. School begins promptly at 8:30am. Please make every effort to have your child arrive on time. Playground supervision begins at 8:00am. Please make sure students do not arrive before that time. Thank you and if we can be of any assistance please don’t hesitate to call.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Would you like to volunteer on campus or help a teacher? You can help with student supervision, work in classrooms, and help with events. Please let us know if you're interested, all you need to do is fill out a volunteer form and we will let you know how you can help! Volunteer forms are available on our district website.

SUPPORTING MATH at HOME
Today math is more critical to school success than ever before. The high standards our state has set for mathematics education reflect the importance of math in both college and careers. Modern jobs now require a firm foundation in mathematics—and that’s true for almost any type of job your children will consider in the future.
How you encourage and promote your children’s math learning, from preschool to high school, can be pivotal to their attitude toward math and their achievement in this area. Even if you haven’t studied math yourself, you can assist your children. Something as simple as expecting your children to be capable in math can make a difference.
· Always talk about math in positive ways- Let your children know that learning math is important. Communicating a positive, can-do attitude about math is the single most important way for you to ensure that your children are successful in math.
· Know what your children are studying in math- Ask them what they are studying in math class, check in with them about math homework, and help them with school projects when appropriate.
· Make math an everyday part of your family- Find math at home. Spend time with your children on board games, puzzles, and activities that involve math. Involve your children in activities like shopping. Talk to your children about what they are thinking about when they solve math problems
· Notice math in the world- You can help your children see the usefulness of math by pointing it out everywhere you see it. Point math out when outside the home. Ask questions such as : What shape does that tree look like? How many more miles before we get there?
