If your student is absent or you plan for your student to have an early dismissal, please email excuse notes to rbattendance@casdschools.org within three days of the absence.

A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Studies show when schools and families work together to support learning, children do better in school. Rainbow Elementary School and the CASD support and encourage this important home/school partnership. One important tool for keeping the lines of communication open is providing families with updates on their child's progress with report cards.
Report cards will be available for families on Wednesday, December 13th. For the first trimester, kindergarten families will receive paper copies of report cards so be sure to check your kindergarten student's bookbag for his/her report card.
Families in Grades 1-5 will receive their student's first trimester report card through Home Access Center. Below you will find, English and Spanish, step-by-step directions for creating your HAC account and information on how to access your student's report card on Home Access. Paper report cards will only be provided for Grades 1-5 by parent request. Requests for paper report cards can be sent to alessandroc@casdschools.org. Please include your student's name, grade, and teacher in your request.

Report Cards

2023-2024 Code of Student Conduct and 1:1 Technology Handbook
The 2023-2024 Elementary Code of Student Conduct and 1:1 Technology Handbook can be found by visiting Rainbow's website here or by viewing the attached PDF. Please take the time to read and review the documents with your child. Parent/Guardian/Student Acknowledgement statements were sent home in your student's backpack today. Please complete the statement and have your student return this form to their homeroom teacher by December 15th. A hardcopy of the Elementary Code of Student Conduct will be available upon request.

All Mrs. Stauffer wants for Christmas (besides a silent night 😉) is a picture with all of her former students who now have students at 🌈Rainbow!

Title Information
Your child attends Rainbow Elementary School, which receives Federal Title I funds to assist students in meeting state achievement standards. Throughout the school year, we will be providing you with important information about this law and your child’s education. Please review the attachments informing you about your right to request information about the qualifications of the classroom staff working with your child.

Message from the School Nurse
Winter is upon us! That means colder temperatures and maybe even some snow this year. Whenever possible, we try to get the students outside to play and get fresh air. When you go outside, it is important to be safe and stay warm. Here are some helpful tips so all our students can enjoy the outside during winter.
Dress in several thin layers. Wool is better than cotton. If the top layer of clothing gets wet, children can remove the wet layer and still be dry. Children are more at risk for frostbite when the temperatures drop.
Pack extra clothes for your student. If your student gets wet at recess, they will want to change. Clothing needs to come from home.
Send your student to school in a warm, waterproof coat.
Wear gloves or mittens, closed toe shoes or boots, socks, and a hat outside.
Be aware of clothing hazards. Scarves and hood strings can easily become tangled around a small child’s neck. Use other clothing for warmth.
Sunscreen. Snow can reflect the sun’s rays making sunburn a real risk.
Stay hydrated! Encourage kids to drink water, avoid sugary drinks and those with caffeine.
