FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR
Dear Harbor Light Christian School Family,
It has been an incredible and smooth start to the school year! As my letter this month, I wanted to share a note I read with the middle and high school students about my prayer for them for this school year.
As we gather today for our retreat, I canโt help but reflect on the journey weโre all on togetherโstudents, teachers, parents, and friends. And today, I want to share a wish thatโs on my heart for each and every one of you.
A song keeps coming to mind as I have been praying for this year and for the retreat. It is a song I listened to often my first year of teaching, from the band Rascal Flats and it is called โMy Wishโฆโ So Iโve written my note in the form of that songโฆ only slightly different.
My prayer for you is that you keep God, your first love, first in everything you do. I pray that no matter where this year takes you, no matter the challenges you face, youโll always keep Him at the center of it all. May your hearts always be drawn back to His, no matter what paths you walk down, and may His love be the compass that guides your every step.
I pray that in the busyness of life, you never forget the One who loves you most. When the world pulls you in a hundred different directions, I hope you find the strength to stop and remember the One who gave you breath, the One who has a plan for your life thatโs greater than anything you could ever imagine.
And more than anything, I pray that you never lose sight of the truth that Godโs love for you is unwavering, unchanging, and unconditional. Heโs the One who should be first in our hearts, and my deepest hope is that you will always seek to love Him with everything you have.
So as we go through this day together, letโs remember to keep our hearts focused on Him, our first love. Letโs make it our mission to put Him first, not just today, but each day this school year, and for the rest of our lives.
Thatโs my prayer for you.
Please join me this year in PRAISING the Lord for the opportunity to provide Christ- centered education to students in northern Michigan and join me in PRAYING for hearts to be set on fire for the one who loves us most.
In His Service,
Kelly Dutcher

MS/HS Retreat
At the beginning of each school year, we pause for one day and take the 7th - 12th grade students off campus. We break them into smaller groups and create times for connection between students, staff, and volunteers. We cultivate worship and a deeper relationship with the Lord to start the year.
It is an integral part of our first week of school to create the atmosphere for the year and we are so grateful for everyone who helped make this possible this year. THANK YOU!

Library Refresh is complete!
Last November we reached out to our community about a needed library refresh, and you SHOWED up. Thank you for pouring into HLCS and our students.
Our library staff, Becca Chamberlin and Danielle Urman have worked tirelessly over the summer on the transformation. Katherine Johnson, Elementary Principal and Reading Interventionalist, spent many hour scouring book sites for good deals and ordered over 125 new, age-appropriate books (in the header photo).
Danielle has also helped assemble new topic focused backpacks that students can check out, STEM kits to be used at school with fun experiments, and more.
Now that the library project is complete, we would love for you to see it! Stop into the school from 8-3 and we will give you a personal tour. In the meantime, please take a peek at the before and after video below and photos of the new items for students to check out!
