Principal's Bulletin
Ross Elementary, February 27, 2023
Principal's Message
Dear Ross Roadrunner Families,
DCPS released FY24 initial budgets last week. The Ross allocation is linked here and you can learn more about school budgets at https://dcpsbudget.com/
Unfortunately, like many DCPS schools serving lower-risk populations, we have experienced funding cuts which will require us to make difficult decisions regarding staffing and programming. This is one of the most challenging budgets I have had to manage during my tenure at Ross. We have been funded at 95% of last year’s allocation despite a projected enrollment increase and increases in positions costs. The Ross LSAT held an initial budget discussion meeting last week and will convene tomorrow in a closed session to advise on budgeting aligned with our DCPS and Ross priorities. Once our FY24 budget has been submitted and approved, I will schedule a meeting with the school community to review/discuss.
In the meantime, please reach out with any questions related to the budgeting process.
Warm Regards,
Holly Searl, Principal
