What's Happening at DATA
Hello DATA Families,
One of my favorite activities is the upcoming Gingerbread Competition. The students involved always have a great time and the creativity they bring to their houses is truly something to see. Our hope is that this year, we have a great turn out for this event so don't miss your chance to participate. All of the sign up information is listed in the flyer below. Families are encouraged to come and cheer on their competitors. We will also have some craft activities available for younger siblings.
Semester exams are right around the corner. For our 9th grade students, this is a new experience and can be a bit confusing. Please take a moment to read over the exam schedule and the exam exemption criteria and application process. Once the exemption window closes, no exceptions will be made for students who missed the application window.
As a reminder, our DATA classrooms are a "no phone" campus. The use of cell phones has been on the uptick in many of our DATA classes. All phones should be put away when in class. There is plenty of opportunities between class periods and at lunch for students to use their phones.
Over the winter break take advantage of local service learning opportunities within your local community. Service learning is simply helping out someone and not being compensated for it. This could be helping out a neighbor, working at your local church, volunteering as a family or individual with a local non-profit. Whatever options work for your family, make sure your student enters the information in their Skyward student portal. Don't forget to include a valid email address of the person who will be able to authorize your hours when you enter the information into Skyward. Seniors, make sure you are heading towards completion of your 100 required hours to be recognized as a DATA graduate.
We are now taking pre-orders for DATA t-shirts and sweatshirts. DATA students are goal oriented and don't let things get in the way and "Keep Moving Forward". Ordering information is below.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Szabo
