The Collegiate Connection

Scholars will have the opportunity to earn a free ticket to the Winter Wonderland during the school day. Each grade level shared in their newsletters how scholars can earn a ticket.

The Winter Wonderland will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

PK-1st will be held in classrooms from 12:30pm - 2:00pm

2nd - 3rd will be held from 12:00pm - 1:30pm

4th - 5th will be held from 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Parents who are interested in helping can visit https://cedarhillisd.voly.org/index.html and sign up for a time to come help. Volunteers will help monitor the gym (or classroom for PK - 1st). Our volunteers will also help with hot cocoa, and activities we have going on.

Additional Information will be sent from the classroom teachers.

We will be giving semester exams December 12 - 15th. It is important that all of our scholars are at school each and every day next week.

Monday - Reading

Tuesday - Math

Wednesday - Science

Thursday - Social Studies

Scholars will all receive a free dress pass for Thursday, December 15, 2022.

It's a GREAT day to be a Longhorn! It is my hopes this message finds you all well.

I want to ensure all parents remember the expectation to be apart of the Collegiate Pathway. Scholars should not have behavioral issues, have at least a 98% attendance rate, and work towards ensuring all grades are 85% or higher. As a reminder I am providing our process for being placed on probation from the student code of conduct.

Probation process - Collegiate Prep Elementary

1. A Collegiate Student Review Meeting is held. The Review Committee will include a
building administrator, classroom teacher, and the school counselor/magnet advisor
when appropriate. Parents will be notified in writing about the meeting and will serve
as a member of the committee.

2. The Review Committee will develop an individual probationary plan that addresses the
identified area(s) in which the student did not meet Collegiate expectations. The
purpose of the plan is to assist the student in making improvements in the identified
area(s) and for overall student success in the program. If a student is identified for Tier
2 or Tier 3 intervention support, the committee will consider the RtI plan established by
the intervention team.

3. At the end of each grading cycle, the Review Committee will evaluate the student’s
progress and determine whether to remove the student’s probationary status, extend
the probation, or exit the student from the program.

Christmas break is fastly approaching! As we enter the last two weeks of instruction, please encourage your scholars to come to school each and every day with RISE expectations.

During the week of Dec 12th, scholars in 2nd- 5th grade will be engaging in District DCCA assessments in English, Math and Science. Their attendance will be important, this assessment will be a form of mock STAAR and will give our scholars an opportunity to experience STAAR test structures. CHCPPTA is pleased to announce that JORDAN THOMPSON, a first-grader in Ms. Kelley's class, has won the Collegiate Prep Reflections contest! Jordan created a beautiful artwork celebrating this year's theme, "Show Your Voice." His art has been forwarded the Cedar Hill Council of PTAs, and from there may travel to the State and National levels for the chance to earn even more recognition. Way to go, Jordan!

Greetings Prep Family,

My name is Mrs. Tyler-Johnson and I serve as the campus Instructional Facilitator. In my role I'm tasked with supporting teachers and scholars. I will be collaborating with our teachers this school year to help develop effective plans and provide engaging classroom experiences to help all scholars THRIVE. I will also support in the area of small group RLA intervention in grades 3-5. I'm a servant at heart so my desire is to help in assisting all that I serve reach their fullest potential.

This week Ms. Smith is doing her counseling lessons in the library. We will not have a library lesson or check out new books, but the students will be turning in all of their library books. We have a few students who lost their books around the school and we are hoping that they all get turned in before the Winter Break so that we can start the new year off with everyone checking out books again. The weekly library schedule is posted below. Please remind your scholar to bring their library books back for their library day (or at any time really). Additionally, if you see any library books at home that have a white call number sticker on the spine that is not blacked out, please have your scholar return the book to the library, even if the books aren't their checked out books. Hopefully we can get all missing book back to the library before the break. I continue to check the lost-and-found for library books also and find a couple books there every day.
