INSIGHTS - January 2024
Richmond Community Schools
Happy New Year!
As we embark upon the start of semester two, it is with great pride that I share with you all that our students have shown remarkable growth and commitment to their education, both inside and outside the classroom. The academic achievements we've witnessed are a testament to the hard work of our students, the support of their families, and the exceptional efforts of our dedicated faculty and staff.
In the realm of academics, we have observed a significant rise in iReady test scores, demonstrating the efficacy of our teaching methodologies and the enthusiasm of our students for learning. The commitment to excellence became evident earlier this semester in the numerous accolades our students have earned in various academic competitions, showcasing their intellectual prowess and dedication to academic excellence.
Beyond the classroom, our students have excelled in extracurricular activities, the arts, and athletics. Their achievements in these areas not only highlight their diverse talents but also reinforce the importance of a well-rounded education that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms.
To our parents and guardians, thank you for your unwavering support. Your involvement in your child's education is invaluable, and we appreciate the partnership we have with you in shaping the future of our students. It is imperative that we all continue to build upon the momentum we have created and remain resilient in our efforts. For we aRe Richmond.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Curtis Wright, Superintendent of Schools
When students return after winter break, RCS will issue ID cards to all students. Beginning Thursday, January 11th, 2024, these student ID cards will be worn on a lanyard throughout the school day, and scanned as students board and exit the bus. This will enable us to know if a student is getting off at the wrong stop or boarding the wrong bus, ensuring their safety. These same ID cards will be utilized for the processing of meals in our cafeterias. This should make breakfast and lunch lines run more efficiently as the food service software will instantaneously identify students for meal register processing.
We are confident that ParentPatrol will bring numerous benefits to our school community. We appreciate in advance, your support with the implementation of this new system. While students and staff get adjusted to this new process, we understand that there will be delays for a short period through this transition. We ask for your grace and patience. It is always a little bumpy at the beginning of something new.
Frequently Asked Questions for BusBoss ParentPatrol
Please look over the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the RCS Transportation Department at 765-973-3449.
What is my student's bus number?
Once you pull up your student's name in BusBoss ParentPatrol, you will see your child's bus number.
Did my student get on the bus?
RCS students will swipe their ID cards when they get on and exit the bus. BusBoss ParentPatrol provides a network that helps with the frequent and regular location of your child's bus. This helps RCS parents track the live location of the school bus at any time during the journey.
Can I be notified when my student's bus enters a certain area?
BusBoss ParentPatrol provides a feature for alerts. Alerts are given to convey a notification regarding the location of the school bus to the parent. So when the bus reaches/leaves the previous stop from the previous stop from the respective stop, the parent receives real-time notifications in the BusBoss ParentPatrol app.
My student doesn't ride the school bus. Do I need to download the BusBoss ParentPatrol app?
No. Since your student does not ride the bus, they are not registered as a bus rider student.
Does BusBoss ParentPatrol work on the Boys and Girls Club buses?
No. The student tracking system is only installed on RCS school buses.
I am entering my email address and I am receiving a message that says "Your email could not be found in the BusBoss system." What should I do?
Please be sure to enter the email address you used to register your child for school. If you are still receiving the error message, please contact the RCS Technology Department at 765-973-4918.
