Become a Woodland 8 Habits Family
BECOME A WOODLAND 8 HABIT FAMILY- We would love for you to help us bring the 8 Habits home. Please click HERE for our family 8 Habits Choice Board. You will see just how easy it is to use the 8 Habit language at home and how it can transform your family’s habits and behaviors at home in a positive way. Once you complete the choice board as a family by completing 2 tasks from each section, send it back to any of your children’s teachers, and you will earn a Woodland 8 Habits magnet for your car. We would also love it if you could take a family picture of you all completing one of the Habits and send it to your classroom teacher so that we can celebrate your family on social media and maybe even our school website!

Daily homework- Read for 20 minutes, get Green Light on Reflex, complete any assigned IXL skill assignments.
Students should be getting the green light in Reflex or completing a mission on Frax every night (Monday - Friday) each week. They know what this means. Sometimes, they have time to finish in class. They can show you in the top right corner of the computer program if they have earned the Green Light that day. Reflex is a computer program purchased by our school to build their fluency skills with basic math facts (multiplication and division through 12s). This is key to success in 5th grade Math this year!
Ongoing Reminders
Please keep in mind the rule for length of shorts in our WES Handbook and help us by checking your child's clothing to make sure it follows the rules: *The length of properly worn shorts, skirts, and skorts must be no shorter than the mid-thigh. *No tube tops, halter tops, or spaghetti strap tops. Tank tops straps must be an inch wide. *Dresses must not be shorter than mid-thigh.
Bring CHARGED Chromebooks to school each day.
- Please remember that our 5th graders' bodies are changing as they are growing. We are encouraging the kids to dress for the weather, wear deodorant, and have water bottles with them to stay hydrated.
- Have a set of headphones and pencil pouch of supplies that can stay at school.
Ms. Meyer's Woodland Artists
Woodland artists have been working hard on projects for the past several weeks! Please don't forget to check out your students' learning over at Ms. Meyer's Art Room 510 site. Enrichment links are provided for you and your child to engage together in their recent learning.
CHAPERONE POLICY UPDATE
Due to some changes at the state level, Greenville County Schools has had to make some changes to their chaperone policy in regards to over night field trips. Until further notice students will only be allowed to room with same gendered adults. For our Washington, DC field trip, if a student attends with the opposite gendered parent, we will ensure they are grouped together during the day, but for the hotel room accommodations portion of the trip they will be housed with another same gendered adult. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have already registered for the trip and need help making changes to your reservation due these policies please reach out to the trip leader Laura Nicholls at lnicholls@greenville.k12.sc.us or to Good News Travel directly.
