Attendance Reminders: EVERY DAY COUNTS!
Great news! Our average daily attendance is up over 2.5% from school year 2023-2024!
Attendance is the number one predictor of future success! According to the National Center for Education Statistics:
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. A recent study looking at young children found that absenteeism in kindergarten was associated with negative first grade outcomes such as greater absenteeism in subsequent years and lower achievement in reading, math, and general knowledge.
Poor attendance has serious implications for later outcomes as well. High school dropouts have been found to exhibit a history of negative behaviors, including high levels of absenteeism throughout their childhood, at higher rates than high school graduates. These differences in absentee rates were observed as early as kindergarten, and students who eventually dropped out of high school missed significantly more days of school in first grade than their peers who graduated from high school
High school may seem like a long way away when your child is five but every day counts!
Students should be in school at least 90% of the school year, this means no child should miss more than 17 days of school out of the total 180 instructional days.
- Planning a vacation? Please align your schedule to our school calendar.
- Concerned about your child's attendance? Talk to your child's teacher, our school counselor or our assistant principal
- Has your child missed a day of school in the last week? Make a commitment to attend 10 days in a row to makeup the time missed
- Has your child missed more than 8 days of school already? Expect our attendance team to reach out to you and learn more about how we can support your child's increased attendance in school.
