PLEASE DONATE YOUR OLD, PRESCRIPTION GLASSES TO THOSE IN NEED - DROP BOX AT HCS
HOW CAN I DONATE OLD, USED GLASSES TO THOSE IN NEED?
HCS has a collection box for used, prescription glasses in the office. If you have any old glasses that you no longer need, please drop them off and we will make sure they get to the Vermont Lions Club where they will be cleaned, categorized by prescription and prepared for distribution during organized special missions to developing countries.
HOW DO THE GLASSES REACH THOSE IN NEED?
Lions and other groups organize tems of eye care professionals and colunteers who travel to developing countries all over the world to conduct vision screenings and dispense the glasses free of charge to children and adults with impaired vision.
WHY ARE THE GLASSES DISRIBUTED TO DEVELOPING NATIONS?
Because of legal constraints against dispensing used prescriptive devices in many areas of the United States, most recycled glasses are distributed in developing countries Please note that not all glasses can be reused. Those that can't are sold for their base materials and the funds earned are used by the Lions Club to fund the LERC. Nothing goes to waste!
