School Newsletter Term 2, Week 10
Friday 5th July 2024
Kia ora Koutou,
As we draw closer to the end of another term, it is with pride that we reflect on the wonderful achievements and events that have shaped our school community.
First and foremost, a huge thank you to our Board of Trustees (BOT) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Your unwavering support and dedication continue to be the backbone of our school's success. Your efforts in organizing events, raising funds, and making critical decisions for the betterment of our school are deeply appreciated.
To our incredible staff, your commitment to providing a high-quality education and fostering a positive learning environment is impressive. You go above and beyond every day to ensure our students receive the best possible education, and for that, we are truly grateful.
A special mention to our students. Your enthusiasm, hard work, and positive attitudes make our school a vibrant and exciting place to be. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or participating in extracurricular activities, you consistently demonstrate what it means to be part of this exceptional community.
To our coaches and team managers, thank you for your tireless dedication to our sports teams. Your guidance, mentorship, and support not only help our students excel in their respective sports but also teach them invaluable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to those who support our transport needs. Your assistance in ensuring our students arrive safely and on time for their activities is invaluable. Your contribution plays a critical role in the smooth operation of our school events and activities.
This term, we had the pleasure of celebrating Matariki with a fantastic event that brought our entire community together. The sense of unity, the sharing of stories, and the vibrant cultural displays made it a memorable occasion for all. We are so grateful for everyone who contributed to making Matariki such a special celebration.
Our school assemblies have also been a highlight this term. The great vibes and positive energy at these gatherings reflect the spirit of our community. It is heartening to see students and staff come together to celebrate achievements, share important messages, and foster a sense of belonging.
As we approach the holiday break, we want to remind everyone to stay safe and take this time to relax and rejuvenate. Whether you are traveling or staying home, we hope you have a wonderful and restful holiday. Enjoy this break with your loved ones, and make the most of this well-deserved time off.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term, which starts on Monday, 22 July 2024. Let's return with renewed energy and enthusiasm, ready to embrace new opportunities and challenges. We are excited about what the next term will bring and are confident that, with the continued support of our fantastic community, we will achieve great things together.
We, as a staff and community, want to share our deepest sympathies with Mrs Zambazos (Amanda) on the passing of her husband. Amanda, we wish you all love and peace as you and the boys navigate this difficult time.
Nga mihi,

HPP Reading Programme
We’re hoping to get our HPP reading programme up and running in Term 3, and are looking for volunteers to come in and read to some of our younger students. This programme involves choosing a picture book ahead of time, reading to and talking about the book with the student you are assigned to. The goal is to improve oral language and comprehension, and support a love for reading.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and have a little time available during school hours, please contact Whaea Gina - gway@westend.school.nz
