“Today is an important day in my life + in the lives of so many people with whom I have had the pleasure of working for the past ten years. It is also an example of good things happening for those who keep fighting hard while being willing to wait.

When @beautycounter launched "clean" was not yet a thing. Corporate activism was still scary + not yet cool. Success in business was defined solely by a financial scorecard.

Today proves that times are changing.

In late 2010, sitting in my home in Santa Monica, I wanted people to be healthier + I saw an enormous opportunity in front of me. At the time, I was crazy enough to think that we could make the world safer for all by going counter the beauty industry + making beauty a safer business. Sometimes crazy pays off.

Over the past 10 years we built a movement through passionate + dedicated people who have worked tirelessly to create products + policy change that will forever change our industry.

Heading to President Biden's desk is legislation that updates major flaws to our 1938 cosmetic safety laws.

• Mandatory recall authority to help action against things like asbestos in children's makeup
  
• Registration of cosmetic manufacturing facilities + new good manufacturing practices that currently leave many facilities unsanitary.
  
• The requirement for companies to have safety substantiation on file + to ask harder questions before deeming something safe.
  
• And allergen disclosure, something Beautycounter has been doing for years.
  

This moment is happening because of all of you. Your endless meetings, conversations, phone calls + text messages to Congress.

We still have a long way to go + our fight won't stop, but please take a moment today on this 23rd day of December 2022 to know that because of you, the world just may be a little bit better. And to whomever told you that you were crazy when you joined the @beautycounter movement, share this great news.

The way CBD works is actually quite fascinating!

Our body naturally creates endocannabinoids that work to keep our body systems in homeostasis (aka balance). These molecules are nearly identical to the cannabinoids that naturally occur in the hemp plant. Either one of these - the ones our body makes or the ones we extract from hemp - can bind with the receptors in our Endocannabinoid system (ECS) + send messages to our body to do certain things.

This interaction is what leads to the many positive benefits we get from CBD!
