January Weather!
Please make sure your child is dressed up in layers or with appropriate winter clothing.
We go outside even when it is "COLD!"
Our District policy for Indoor Recess is when the Outside Temperature is at or below 0 degrees Fahrenheit OR a wind chill of -10 degrees or colder.
*Parents, please understand that we cannot keep kids inside the classroom when they don't want to go outside. Our homeroom teachers are the ones supervising recess and scholars cannot be left behind.
**Parents, if you are requesting for your child to stay inside, we do need a doctor's note to accompany that request.
*** IF you need winter gear, please reach out to Mrs. Lutz @ kristin.lutz@hopkinsschools.org

The Royal Bash is our largest fundraiser and is a great way for you to make a huge difference in the lives of Hopkins students. Thanks to YOU, since 1995: HEF has awarded 670 classroom Spark Grants to Hopkins teachers; HEF has funded 23 special projects in partnership with Hopkins Public Schools, including $75,000 to last year's computer science special project; and HEF has awarded nearly $4 million total to Hopkins Public Schools. The Royal Bash fundraising gala on March 1, 2025, is a time when parents, teachers, district leaders, and community members come together to celebrate and raise money to support our Hopkins students. At the Royal Bash, you can play games, dance, listen to live music, and enjoy a delicious dinner from D'amico Catering, bid in the silent auction, raise your bid paddle in the live auction, and fund our special project, Outdoor Opportunities. Hopkins Public Schools: 2025 Minnesota Student Survey
Hopkins Public Schools is inviting students in grades 5, 8, 9, and 11 to participate in the 2025 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS), conducted every three years to gather insights into young people’s lives. In 2022, 70% of Minnesota school districts participated.
This anonymous and voluntary survey is hosted by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and covers topics such as school experiences, future plans, health, relationships, substance use, and more, with high school students answering additional questions about sexual behavior.
Participation helps schools and communities create better programs and services. Parents have the right to review the survey or opt their child out.
The survey will be administered at buildings between February 10–March 14. You can learn more or opt your child out at this link.

Purposeful People: Empathy
This month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. Perseverance is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.
