SWWC Field Trips
Field trips provide practical, real-world experiences that complement classroom learning. Students get to see and interact with people, materials, processes, or environments they have only read about or studied.
Many of our SWWC programs are actively participating in field trips, and each one requires approval from a parent/guardian. The link to each digital permission slip will be provided to the student at least three weeks before the field trip and must be signed by a parent/guardian in advance of each trip. Thank you for your help in making sure those forms are submitted in a timely manner so all students can participate in these awesome opportunities.
SWWC STUDENTS AT WORK!
Building Trades Students Build the Perfect Picnic Table!
SWWC Students attend "Manufacturing Day" at Washtenaw Community College!
What an opportunity for our SWWC students - thank you WCC!
Computer Integrated Manufacturing Students Attend "Immersion Day" at Washtenaw Community College
"From the skillet that sizzles your morning eggs to the sleek dashboard of your car, to the very needle that threads your clothes - all of these marvels are intricately crafted with the precision of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery." says Washtenaw Community College. SWWC students from Mr. Trout's Computer Integrated Machining (CIM) class attended CNC Machining "Immersion Day" where they toured, learned, and experienced life as a student at WCC.
This is exactly how Career and Technical Education classes offered through the SWWC can provide students a competitive advantage. Thank you to Zoller for your partnership!
Careers in Education Students Visit Local Schools!
The SWWC Careers in Education classes spent time in classrooms observing teachers and learning what a typical day as an educator might look and feel like. They ended the field trip eating at our local Mancino's. What a fantastic day!
What is the SWWC?
The South & West Washtenaw Consortium (SWWC) provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to 11th and 12th grade students enrolled in the Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, and Saline school districts. Approximately 1000 students participate in our state-approved CTE programs as they continue to plan and prepare for college and career.
On behalf of the thirty-eight SWWC staff members, we welcome you to the 24/25 school year! Thank you for enrolling in one of our twenty-two Career and Technical Education classes offered at Chelsea, Dexter, and Saline High School, as well as our off-site locations specifically for Cosmetology and Building Trades. We are excited to have you in the consortium!
If you have any questions, please contact Kara Stemmer, the Director of the SWWC at 734.401.4371 or via email at stemmkar@salineschools.org.
