April APC Update
Waqaa ANCCS Families,
My name is Michael Patterson, and I am a parent member of the Academic Policy Committee (APC) and the new APC president. I want to thank everyone who volunteered and submitted applications to run as candidates for the APC. The 2024-2025 ANCCS APC elections were amazing! ANCCS had an 83% voter participation. I want to thank all the families that took the time to vote.
My priority as the new APC president is to ensure that the new APC members are trained on how the APC functions and operates. My second priority as president is to work with Principal Sweetsir and all the ANCCS staff to make sure that the move to Lake Hood Elementary goes smoothly. Thank you to all the staff, community members, parents, and students that came out to advocate for ANCCS. My third priority as president is to ensure that the APC is continuously communicating with the ANCCS community regarding the state of ANCCS.
I will always make the call to action; the APC needs volunteers to join subcommittees. If you are interested, please let me know me at my ASD email:
It is my honor and privilege to serve on the APC and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Registration for the 2025-26 School Year
Returning ANCCS Students:
Registration for the 2025-2026 school year opens April 25! All returning students must complete the registration process prior to the school year beginning. Registering early helps us predict class sizes and placements for next year and is very appreciated. For more information, please see the ASD registration page or contact the front office at 742-1370.
New ANCCS students:
Students joining ANCCS must apply through the lottery. The spring lottery has run, but families may still apply for the summer lottery that runs in July. Once students have been accepted through the lottery, they may complete the registration process.

Attendance Update
Attendance Update
At ANCCS we value the time we get to spend with students. We also place great value on being a group or community. In order to ensure we maintain our values, it is important for our students to be at school and a part of our community. Attending school regularly helps us to establish the following values:
Share what you have (knowledge and time)
Take care of others (cooperation)
Make connections (with our community)
With fewer than 40 days left of school, please support your student in setting a goal to attend school every day! Please contact the office if you have any planned absences or want support in navigating an attendance challenge.
90% Attendance
Our attendance rate grew from February to March! The number of students with 90% attendance rose during the month of March from 58% to almost 65%! Quyana to all of our families for supporting student attendance and success! Let's keep up this growth and aim to have your student attend 90% of the school days in April and May. With 21 school days in April, this means that your student should not miss more than 2 days of school this month.
