Your Weekly Update from Brown Elementary School
Mr. McCann's Message
Dear Families,
There are only about six more weeks left of school. I encourage you to check the school calendar and read any updates from your classroom teacher for any important dates and activities. For example, our next round of MCAS will be coming soon. The Math MCAS will happen on the following dates:
May 7th and 8th - 4th Grade Math
May 14th and 16th - 3rd Grade Math
Please encourage your child to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast before these assessments. Thank you for your support!
Best,
Aidan McCann, Principal
Five Things You Need to Know
1 - SPOTLIGHT ON PHYS ED
Hello Brown School Families!
We are excited that spring is finally here! Since the last newsletter, there has been so much that we have done. We have been working on basketball skills, castle ball, the adventure course, jump rope activities, and the 4th grade wrapped up the PACER. The jump rope unit included the students using short and long ropes to practice their jumping. They did a great job working hard to raise money for the American Heart Association.
All 4th grade parents, please take a moment and ask about how well they did on the PACER. We understand that it is a physically demanding activity that tests their aerobic capacity, however, everyone did a great job with it! Every 4th grade student worked hard to reach their goal. Overall, the entire 4th grade increased their PACER laps by seven laps! Mrs. Pestana and Mr. Dombroskas are very proud of the effort that everyone gave. They should all be very proud of themselves.
Field Day
It is that time of the year again! Field day will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024. This year, field day will be held on one field (Kennedy Field). There will be two different sections for the day.
Grades 2, 3, and 4 will have field day from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
Grades K and 1 will have field day from 11:45 am – 1:45 pm.
We need volunteers to run the stations. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up using the Sign-up Genius form. Please remember to send your child to school with sneakers, sunscreen (applied at home), and plenty of water for field day.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pestana
Mr. Dombroskas
