A Message from Administration
It has been another fantastic week here at Ducketts Lane. We want to take a moment to thank all of our parents and staff for supporting a fantastic WEAREDUCKETTS Day! The smiles and joy made all the hard work worth it.
We are happy to report that all scheduled testing has been completed and our students did a fantastic job. Another huge shout out goes to our teachers for their hard work in preparing our students for these tests all year long. Additionally, our PTA supported our students by providing incentive rewards focused around student effort and goal setting.
We look forward to celebrating our ABC countdown with our students next week.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Register for Bus Services for the next school year
Families Must Register by June 1 for 2023-2024 Bus Service
Per Board of Education Policy 5200 Student Transportation, families whose students are eligible for bus transportation are required to register through HCPSS Connect Synergy to receive bus service for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This new registration process will take place annually to help the HCPSS Office of Student Transportation plan for more accurate student ridership and to make routes more efficient. Registration for 2023-2024 bus service is open now through June 1.
Please note, families who reside in non-transportation areas are not eligible for bus transportation and do not need to take any action. Find the new non-transportation areas for your school online. Additionally, students who receive transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan do not need to register.
Families who need assistance with the registration process should reach out to their child’s school.
Bus routes for the 2023-2024 school year, along with specific school start times, will be finalized in August, prior to the start of school. More information is available online.
DONT MISS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK
We strongly encourage you to order online or with a check as to provide a receipt of your purchase. Fifth Grade students do not need to purchase a Yearbook, they will each receive a Yearbook as part of their Promotion ceremony.
SEL Corner
As we approach the end of the school year and get to enjoy summer-like weather, it is always a great time to manage and recognize our behaviors and emotions in order to achieve the goals we set for ourselves at the start of the new year. With the excitement of summer break dangling before our eyes, our children may forget some of the important skills that have been taught emotionally this year. We will begin focusing on Self Management during the school day with students from 5/22-5/26.
What Exactly is SELF MANAGEMENT?
Self-management is the ability to manage one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations and to achieve goals and aspirations. In other words having self-management means being able to conduct yourself appropriately in a variety of situations so you can participate fully.
What does Self Management look like?
Impulse control
Stress Management
Self Discipline
Self Motivation
Goal Setting
Organizational Skills
What does self management sound like?
I need a break right now.
May I please have space? I am not ready to share.
I think I need help with ___________.
I don’t understand yet, but I will ________ to reach my goal.
How Can I reinforce this at home?
We encourage you to visit THIS WEBSITE which introduces seven skills that your child needs to learn early to help your child develop strong self-management skills and improve focus.
If you have any Social Emotional Learning questions, feel free to contact Jennifer Roussillon at jennifer_roussillon@hcpss.org. We would be happy to help provide resources for home as well, when appropriate.
