Welcome Eagles!
We are so thankful that the Half Moon Fire Department came to our school on Friday for a fire safety lesson for our K-5th grade students. Students should have a family plan in the event of a house fire.
Last night at the Sneaker Ball, National Elementary Honor Society raised $650 to go towards beautifying our campus. Thank you to Mrs. Lutz, school counselor and Mrs. Welchel, school social worker for hosting such a fun and successful event!
Red Ribbon Week is October 24-31st. This week we will raise awareness about drug and violence prevention. Monday Peace out Drugs dress in 60's or 70's style, Tuesday Lassoing Good Choices wear your fanciest cowboy gear, Wednesday Superheros dress as your favorite book/movie character or superhero, Thursday Monster Mash dress for Halloween! No masks or play weapons allowed.
Parents, please complete the Fall Title I Parent Survey. This will help guide us for a successful school year. https://forms.office.com/r/YdJmEu6ERd Mrs. Shaw's class is in the lead for K-2 and Mrs. Williams for 3-5. The class with the most responses will win a popsicle party.
Our third grade students will be taking the reading NC Check-ins on Tuesday, October 29. Please have your students get a good night's sleep, breakfast and arrive on time.
Congratulations to Mr. Lane, Mrs. Noel and Mrs. Taylor for winning a class trophy for having the most passed iReady lessons. Students should be passing at least two lessons a week.
PTO Movie Night is Friday, November 1 from 5-7. Parents are guardians must be present for students to attend. The cost of refreshments are $1to $3. Please bring a blanket or towel. The event will be held in the MPR.

Parent Portal
Please sign up for Parent Portal. You can monitor your child's grades and attendance within the portal. https://onslow.powerschool.com/public/. You can contact Jennifer Fountain, data manager at jennifer.fountain@onslow.k12.nc.us to assist with this process. She will look up your child's ID number when you email her the completed form and copy of your ID.

Parent Involvement Opportunities
Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.
* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year
* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years
* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom
* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
