LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Santa Rita Families,
Thank you for attending last night’s Back to School Night. On behalf of the Santa Rita staff, I want to express our excitement about this new school year. Teachers work hard daily to provide all students with enriching learning experiences.
Our teachers are knowledgeable about the science of learning development. They create learning experiences for your children based on that knowledge. When you walk on campus, I hope you feel how all staff value creating positive developmental relationships with all students. And, you feel Santa Rita is striving to create an environment of safety and belonging. In classrooms, rich learning experiences help build student beliefs, mindsets, and habits that will make them successful in school and beyond. We are Bobcat Strong! Let’s Go!
Friday Assemblies
Our weekly Friday Spirit Assemblies have begun. They begin at 8:30 a.m. and take place on the main blacktop. They last 10-15 minutes, and we hope you will be able to join us. It’s a great time to connect with our community and learn about events and programs taking place at school.
Principal's Advisory Meeting

I look forward to talking with parents about our wonderful school and the ways we can work together to support all students, staff and parents.
New Los Altos School District Hot Lunch Program
We have a new vendor - The Lunch Master! We welcome everyone to try out the delicious breakfast and lunch options. Please click HERE for the August menu.
We provide students with a wholesome meal that includes an entree and a choice of milk, fruit, or veggies.
School Safety Before and After School
We need your help! If you see unsafe behavior while school is not in session, please speak with a staff member on campus or call the non-emergency Los Altos Police Department. (650) (650) 947-2770. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe.
Support our Los Altos Educational Foundation and the Santa Rita Parent-Teacher Association
Thank you to our Santa Rita PTA and the Los Altos Educational Foundation for supporting Santa Rita. To ensure all students receive a well-rounded educational experience, we greatly appreciate the donations to support our PTA and LAEF. Without your generous donations to both PTA and LAEF, essential programs in our schools simply would not exist. Each organization funds important programs for our students. I’m sure you have heard your child’s excitement about their LASD Music Program and PTA Starting Arts Program. Both programs provide students with an enriching musical arts program. LAEF and the Santa Rita PTA fund these programs.
Our mission is to provide valuable programs, services, and community building at Santa Rita through our partnerships with the PTA and LAEF. These essential funds support all students, teachers, staff, and families in impactful ways. To ensure we continue the magic at Santa Rita and give our children what they need to excel, we must meet membership and fundraising goals. The Direct Donation Drive is a hassle-free way to support Santa Rita through contributions to the PTA and LAEF. No selling! Every penny goes directly to enriching our children’s education!
Please consider donating today. Click Here to donate to the Santa Rita PTA and the Los Altos Educational Foundation.

The Santa Rita Silent Auction and Community Parties kick-off is coming soon!
This is made possible by the hard work and time of many people in the Santa Rita community. There are two parts to this auction event that will take place over the week leading up to Witches' Delight - an online Silent Auction, with bidding on items like gift cards to popular local restaurants, some priceless items like one-of-a-kind classroom art, and unique experiences like Sweet Shop server for a day. Community Parties are events where someone (or a group of people!) sign up to host an event for either kids, families, or adults only. These are great community-builders, and can raise a lot of money for the school! Examples of popular parties in the past include: cookie decorating before holidays, pre-Junior Olympics carb load, and adult dinner parties–which sometimes include preparing the meal together! If you are interested in hosting a party, start brainstorming-we'll reach out again soon to get your ideas!
To make this auction possible, we need help–to start off, we will need the support of several people to help ask local businesses for donations, or to donate an item or experience. This is a great volunteer opportunity to contribute your effort outside of school hours! Please email Kanika (kanika@santaritapta.org) or Marlo (marlo@santaritapta.org) for more information if this is something you can help out with.
Grandfriends’ Day at Santa Rita
Grandfriends’ day is a great tradition at Santa Rita that builds a bridge across generations and extends the fabric of our school community. On Grandfriends' Day, students invite close friends and family to school to celebrate how multigenerational communities and special friendships enrich our lives.
Grandfriends' Day gives students the opportunity to share their school experience with someone special in their life. Anyone in a child's life can be a grandfriend. This can be a neighbor, an aunt or an uncle, a babysitter, a grandparent, a dear friend—a grandfriend is someone special to your Santa Rita student.
Schedule:
8:30 - 8:45 AM
Grandfriends join students on the blacktop for Friday assembly (optional)
8:45 - 9:00 AM

Yard supervisors (1 hour per day, Monday-Friday-we are open to those interested in a few days a week also)
We are a wonderful place to work and working on our campuses is a great way to get to know the staff and students. Do you have a family member, college student, etc. at home who would like to get out for a few hours each day? It truly takes a village and we would love to have you become a part of our LASD team.

LASD Universal Meals Program
No-Cost Meals for All Students
California has become the first state to pass a universal free school meals program for all public school students. Free Breakfast and lunch will be offered at all schools, and all meals will comply with federal nutrition regulations. LASD is committed to serving the best food for our students through our vendor, Revolution Foods.
More Than Meals! Benefits for Your Student and School Completing a school meals form is crucial to school funding.
For every student who applies and qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, the school receives more than $150 and additional money from state and federal grants. This financial support translates into increased funding for afterschool programs, technology, counseling services, and equipment for school kitchens, ensuring a better learning environment for your child.
Families who qualify for free or reduced-cost may also be eligible for free or reduced-cost internet, free or reduced-cost summer camps, after-school child care, summer discount cards, and more! Your application helps your child and many others. Please use this website to access the application. (https://linqconnect.com/public/meal-application/new)
