BHS Happenings
January 7, 2025
Dear BHS Parents and Guardians:
With just a little over a week left in Quarter 2, we encourage all of our parents to review their child's grades in PowerSchool and ensure that they are ending the quarter the best they can. Students should also be preparing for their midterms, which will be starting on January 16th.
Congratulations to BHS' Warhawk of the Month, Vaughn Glanville. Vaughn is a high honor roll student who is currently participating in basketball, but also plays baseball in the spring. He is a student representative to the Board of Education and an all around great student-athlete. A friend to all, Vaughn is always ready to lend a helping hand and treats all he encounters with kindness and respect. On the court he is self-less and a team player. He leads by example in his quiet yet humble manner. Always seen with a smile on his face, Vaughn works hard every day to improve himself as a student-athlete. Congratulations, Vaughn!
We hope that you will join us next Tuesday, January 11th for our January PTO Meeting. This is a great opportunity for all of our parents to get involved in the BHS community and we look forward to more and more parents joining.

Health Update
Norovirus cases have been surging across the US since early December, with more outbreaks reported so far this year than the average for the same time frame over the last 12 years. 91 outbreaks were reported across the US as of early December. This is up from 69 outbreaks reported through the last week of November, much higher than the average of 65 for this time of year. Thankfully, the northeast has seen less cases as compared to other regions, with a positivity rate of 12% (21% in the western region for comparison). Norovirus is highly contagious and can be shed in the stool for up to 2 weeks after symptoms resolve. It is the leading cause of foodborne illness in the US, responsible for about 58% of foodborne illnesses.
