SHHH...It's a Secret
TOMORROW, faculty & staff will be participating in another Secret Spirit Day. Remember "Anything But a Cup" secret spirit day?!?!
Guess what the theme of the spirit day is by clicking HERE (or on the image). You can guess until 3 pm tomorrow. Three Leyden students who guess correctly will win a special prize related to the theme! Winners will be announced via the morning announcements on Thursday.

Wanted: Books!
Do you have old or new books that you don’t read anymore? If so, Rho Kappa is collecting books for Bernie's Book Bank. They will be donated to those who don't have regular access to books. Contact Ms. Ryan or Mr. Scofield with questions.
- When: February 24th - 28th
- What: Donate used or new books
- Where: Collection bins can be found in at Entrance 4, 18 and in rooms 152K & 152J

"Stand Down" with Key Club & Spanish Honor Society
On Saturday, January 25th, the Key Club & Spanish Honor Society volunteered at the American Legion's "Stand Down" event. This annual event supports homeless and low-income veterans. Not only did these club members help out at the event, East Leyden students and staff also donated a car full of clothing and blankets that were passed out during the event.
WSC Leadership Day
On Wednesday, January 29th, 25 members of the West Suburban Conference (WSC) Leadership Team traveled to Downers Grove North High School to participate in the WSC Leadership Day. The students were joined with students from all the WSC high schools. They spent the day participating in group challenges, learning about the culture & activities at other schools, and brainstorming ways to make Leyden a better place for all students.
Women in Tech Event
On Wednesday, January 29th, more than 60 East & West students attended the 12th annual Women In Tech Panel at East Leyden. During the event, students learned about career opportunities in the technology field and about the importance of taking programming, networking and technology classes. The students were able to learn from the following panel of professionals:
- Angela Biernacki - Biopharma Quality Assurance, Astellas
- Lindsay Shilney - Vice President, Sourcing & Logistics, AAR Corp
- Mia Zurawski - Mechanical Engineer, Woodward Inc.
- Isha Shah - Healthcare Project Management Consultant, Impact Advisors
- Bea Verin - Software Engineer, Nike
- Mariam Perez - Computer Science Instructor & PhD Student, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
