A Message from the Principal!

New drop off/pick up procedures at HMS - effective immediately
Starting today the Faculty Parking lot will be blocked off on the N. Mary Street/901 side.
Thank you for your understanding that student safety is our highest priority.
In the morning, students should only be dropped off in front of the school, at the crosswalk, on School House Drive. Please do not have your student get out and walk up the road. Please refer to the traffic pattern picture in this message.
In the afternoon from approximately 2:00 - 2:35 p.m., School House Drive in front of Hedgesville Middle School will be blocked off with school buses. We suggest waiting until after school buses leave around 2:35 to pick up your student. Students should wait in the grass by the front doors of the school.
The safety of our students is our top priority, and we ask for your patience and cooperation in making the school parking lot a safe environment for everyone. With this in mind, we would like to remind all parents and guardians to please follow these important safety guidelines:
Drive Slowly: Even if you are running late, it is essential to slow down and be cautious, particularly in areas where students are present.
Stay Alert: Please avoid using your phone or engaging in other distractions while driving in the school parking lot.
Follow Traffic Rules: Be sure to adhere to all posted signs, crosswalks, and speed limits. These rules are in place to protect our students.
Yield to Pedestrians: Children may not always be aware of their surroundings, so please yield to students and crossing guards.
Do Not Double Park: Double parking can obstruct visibility and create hazardous situations for other drivers and pedestrians.
Use Designated Drop-Off Zones: Following the designated zones helps ensure smooth traffic flow and keeps our students safe.
We understand that the parking lot can be busy and that everyone is eager to drop off or pick up their children as quickly as possible. However, we ask for your patience and vigilance to help prevent future accidents.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued support in keeping our students safe.
