A Note From Fairview's Principal
Dear Fairview Community,
I’d like to share a message from Dr.Darrell Billington that truly captures the excitement and spirit of Homecoming Week:
“This week is Homecoming Week. Students seem excited with all of the festivities happening in the building. You can tell if your students are connected if they dress up for spirit days, stay for a game or BBQ/Movie night, or return to school on Saturday night for the dance. Students may feel a strong connection even if they don’t participate in these activities, but it is a simple way to check without directly asking... They dress up with a nice shirt, slacks, and dresses. It is not too formal. Students do not have access to their lockers, so they should not carry a lot of items. They may even want to leave the high heels in the car and wear more sensible shoes for dancing! I hope everyone has a good time!”
As Dr. Billington highlights, it's been a fantastic week filled with school pride, and we're looking forward to concluding it with tonight's football game against Smoky Hill and tomorrow's Homecoming Dance. Please remember, while fashionably late arrivals are stylish, students must be there before 9:30 PM when doors will close.
Thank you to Dr.Billington for sharing his reflections, and I hope everyone enjoys tonight's game and the Homecoming dance!
Sincerely,
Dr. Scarlet Chopin, Principal

October Count - Student Attendance is Critical
October 1, 2024 is the official date for October count this year. Student schedules will be frozen September 24, 2024-October 8, 2024 to ensure we have the most accurate student count for a number of reasons including funding. Student attendance is critical every day to ensure student success and engagement in classes. It's especially critical at this time of the year leading up to October Count and especially on October 1st. Please help ensure your child is in attendance these coming weeks and beyond.

We're excited to announce our upcoming Friday evenings football game and Homecoming Dance. These events are a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate our school spirit. However, it's important to remember that these events are also about ensuring everyone's safety and enjoyment.

Important Attendance Updates and Guidelines for Absences
Thank you for contacting the school regarding excused absences. Please allow 24-48 hours for attendance to be adjusted. As a district, we are communicating early to families about unexcused and excused absences, the importance of attendance, and mitigating chronic absenteeism.
Chronically absent means a student is absent 10 percent or more of the days enrolled during the school year, including both unexcused and excused absences.
Parents have ten days they can call in an absence, after which we require documentation. We are making strides in communicating the importance of consistent attendance. We will be sending letters to students and families who have missed 3-9 days of class, 10-15 days, or 15 or more, whether unexcused or excused.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Nicole Hindes, Dean of Students.
