Introducing SGE's New Assistant Principal...
We are thrilled to introduce Mrs. Lacey Heusinkveld as the new Shady Grove Assistant Principal!
Mrs. Heusinkveld is in her 11th year of education and comes with experience both in the classroom and as an Instructional Coach. She will officially join us at the Grove on Monday, Sept. 9th! And in case you're wondering, it's pronounced HUE - SING - FELLED. We'll make it easy on the kiddos (and ourselves) and call her "Mrs. H!"
Check-In Procedures for Grandparents' Day
Here's what to expect when checking in for Grandparents' Day at the Grove...
Visitors with an Event Ticket
A purple "Event Ticket" was sent home with your child.
- List the name of your child's approved guest (or guests) on the event ticket.
- Give the event ticket to your child's guests.
- The guest (or guests) should arrive and check-in together by presenting the ticket.
- The event ticket ensures parents have control over the visitors they allow to read with their child AND it allows for an expedited check-in process.
Visitors without an Event Ticket
Visitors who arrive without the event ticket will need to check-in at the front desk with their ID. In addition, the visitors must be listed on the child's Skyward account in order to join the child for Books & Cookies. This line is a slower moving line. Please practice patience if you plan to check-in this way. Also, please keep in mind that these procedures have been put in place for the purpose of keeping all children safe.
*Lunch visitors will not be allowed on 9/9 due to facilitating large crowds across the campus.
*We kindly request that all students remain at school for the full day.
Istation Reports
Dear Parents / Guardians,
I'd like to explain some reports your child will be bringing home each month throughout the school year...
An ISIP (Istation’s Indicators of Progress) reading assessment and an ISIP math assessment are taken at the beginning of each month as a method to monitor your child's academic progress. ISIP is a computer-adaptive assessment. Your child receives items based on his or her individual ability. Every item presented is based on the response to the previous item.
At the conclusion of each monthly assessment period, a Student Summary Handout for both reading and math will be sent home. We are committed to working with your child on critical reading and math skills, and supplying the monthly reports is one easy way to keep parents informed of student progress.
Students and teachers set individual goals in the classroom and chart students' progress each month. As a campus, we also set campus goals for improvement, growth, and plan celebrations for when we reach those goals! Watch our newsletter and Facebook page for monthly posts announcing "Top Growth" Classes and "Red Cape Winners" throughout the year.
As always, if you ever have questions about your child's report, reach out to the classroom teacher!
Mrs. O'Hair - SGE Principal
Leader of the Pack
Our "Leader of the Pack" this week was recognized by his teacher because of the role model he is for others. Jeycop is quick to help others in the classroom, and he is often found picking up trash around the playground and classroom on his own. Way to be, kiddo!
Academics + Character = Success

Progress Reports for the 1st 6 Weeks will be posted to Skyward Family Access on Thursday, Sept. 12th for 2nd graders. Please look at how your child is progressing. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. See directions below.
