Raptor Review for Families:
Your Middle School Update for Week 17
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to continue our "Race to Be On Time" challenge happening from Monday, December 9th, to Friday, December 19th, 2024! This fun competition encourages students to prioritize punctuality, which is key to showing respect, maximizing learning, reducing stress, building responsibility, and preparing for future success.
Reminders:
Garage Sale: Our school garage sale is this week, and students can use their Raptor Tickets to "purchase" items that are new or slightly used. Items available include bikes, AirPods, scooters, shoes, clothing, and more! This is a wonderful way to reward students for their positive behavior and hard work.
Spirit Week: Please encourage your student to participate in our fun spirit week and to join us in our celebration/dance/activity period this Friday!
Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a nurturing and engaging environment. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Race to be on time
We are continuing our "Race to Be On Time" challenge. This fun competition encourages students to prioritize punctuality, which is key to showing respect, maximizing learning, reducing stress, building responsibility, and preparing for future success.
Here’s how it works:
- Each day, a staff member will track tardies by grade level.
- The grade with the fewest tardies for the day earns a point.
- The grade with the most points by the end of the competition wins!
Prizes for the winning grade include:
- Raptor tickets for the Holiday Garage Sale. (Winner announcement: Monday, December 16th)
- A special treat and extra time for the Winter Activity on December 20th.
- Phone usage during lunch for coins earned throughout the challenge (Daily for 2 weeks)
To support your child in being on time, we recommend preparing the night before, setting multiple alarms, and staying organized throughout the day.
The winning grade level will be announced on Friday, December 20th, so encourage your student to arrive on time every day and contribute to their team’s success!
Thank you for your support in making this a positive and rewarding experience for all students.

Garage Sale: Holiday Sale Coming Up
We will have our Garage Sale this week, starting Tuesday. Raptor Tickets. Our students will have the opportunity of buying presents for their families or for them.
Woodburn School District is committed to preparing every learner with academic knowledge and skills necessary for success beyond high school. Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics are fully aligned to Oregon’s State Standards and provide students in grades 3-8 and 11, along with their families, one measure of academic achievement and growth. Assessment results identify your child’s strengths and areas for improvement in English Language Arts and Math. Each subject will be broken into categories and will show how well your child performed in each area. The assessments measure student learning on a scale that allows for comparisons across time.
While no single assessment can give a complete picture of your child’s progress, having your child take the statewide assessments provides educators and administrators with one source of information about what educational approaches are working and where additional resources may be needed. The data from state assessments helps inform district systems, supports and professional development for educators. Your child’s participation is important to ensure our schools receive the targeted resources they need to help all students succeed. Your child’s school will share your child’s scores with you at the end of the current school year or the beginning of the next to help support your child’s success as they move from grade to grade.
If a form is submitted after a student has begun testing, the student will stop testing and the District Test Coordinator will work with ODE assessment staff to invalidate the test.
