GREGORY BORNSTEIN UPDATE!! 👍💪
Greetings!
I wanted to give you an update about Gregory Bornstein, a former teacher at Ketcham. He retired in 2022, after being diagnosed with a particularly nasty form of cancer, Glioblastoma. He was originally given an estimate of 4-6 months from his original diagnosis, and spent that time completing his novel, "The Failure," but progression of the cancer has since robbed him of his ability to read and write, a difficult thing for a former English teacher to bear.
He had two more surgical procedures just last year to address his diagnosis, and is continuing a promising experimental treatment at Memorial Sloane Kettering. He is the first person to complete this protocol, and when given the opportunity to contribute to the research, he signed up without a second thought. The monthly chemotherapy knocks him back and the constant testing is a drag, but he remains ready to fight, spending his time creating art and watching his daughter, Violet, grow up. He misses his awesome co-workers every day, and will never forget the support you gave him when his life changed in a blink of an eye. I just wanted folks to know he's thinking of all of you.
Sincerely,
Krista Danielson-Bornstein

BRADY BELL - A MUST READ !👦🙂
Jennifer Bell is a devoted teacher, wife, and mother of two sons who has always prioritized family, education, and community. As a passionate educator, Jennifer has spent nearly 20 years shaping young minds in her role as a teacher, much of that time has been spent teaching special education in Wappingers. Her commitment to her students extends beyond the classroom where she fosters a learning environment centered on kindness, growth, and resilience.
In December of 2022, the Bell family experienced the unexpected when their youngest son, Brady, was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 3. The diagnosis was devastating news to the family, but they found hope and strength through the support of a local organization dedicated to helping children and their families navigate life- threatening injury or illness. This organization, Angels of Light, was a support system during their darkest days. Angels of Light supports children with life-threatening illness or injury living or receiving care in the Hudson Valley. The support they gave Brady and the Bell family, from the very onset of his illness, provided comfort during Brady’s extended, and sometimes unexpected, hospital stays.
Now, having seen firsthand the positive impact the organization had on her family, Jennifer is proud to serve as a newly elected board member. With her deep understanding of what families in similar situations face, Jennifer is eager to support the organization's mission of providing tangible help and emotional support to those going through difficult times.
The organization’s mission resonates deeply with Jennifer’s own values. They work tirelessly to provide support to families battling pediatric illnesses or injuries. Their care packages offer gift cards for gas and food, comforting items; including snacks, toys, and blankets, to children and their families in the pediatric hospital rooms. The holiday gift program ensures that families facing unimaginable challenges can still experience moments of joy during the season. Additionally, the organization strives to make lasting improvements to hospital pediatric units, ensuring children have the best possible environment while receiving care. They also support the Ronald McDonald House efforts, giving families a place to stay and find respite while their children undergo treatment.
As Jen continues to navigate the complexities of balancing her roles as a teacher, mother, and community advocate, she remains deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of families like hers. Through her work with Angels of Light, Jen hopes to give back and ensure that no family ever has to face the challenges of childhood illness or serious injury alone.
Angels of Light has a number of community events this year. They host benefit walks/ runs, car shows, a concert event, a gala, and other fundraisers. They have community involvement programs for groups of adults and children to help support children and their families as well.
For more information about Angels of Light, their programs, events, and how to donate to them, please visit https://www.angelsoflighthv.org/ourprograms.
In April of 2023, Angels of Light hosted their annual Barri’s Walk/ Run in honor of Brady. There was an incredible showing of support from WCT members, raising a fantastic amount of money for Angels of Light.
Jennifer has organized her first fundraising event in her role as an Angels of Light board member. On March 22, 2025, Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Lacrosse Team will be hosting a fundraising game for Angels of Light. This event also corresponds to Brady’s end of treatment scheduled for earlier that week. To order a shirt to support the fundraiser or to make a donation right to Angels of Light, you can do so through the link below or the QR Code: https://www.customink.com/fundraising/angels-of-light-at-msmc-lax.
