Dear Partee Families,

I hope you and your family enjoyed Spring Break. It's hard to believe, but we have about six more weeks of school. April will be a very busy month with Kindergarten Registration, Literacy Night, and the start of Georgia Milestones Testing for 3rd-5th grade students. As you read through this newsletter, it contains very important information regarding some of our end of the year events. As always, I thank you for your continued support.

Partee's Field Day will take place on May 9th.

In preparation for Field Day, we would greatly appreciate Freeze Pop donations and bottled water. In order to freeze them on time, please drop them off to our front office by May 2nd. Donations of bottled water is also appreciated and can be dropped off any day prior to May 9th.

Literacy is all about celebrating Exceptional stories! The Literacy Team & Exceptional Children's Week Team cordially invite you and students to dress up as your favorite Disney characters (or any book character) and join us for the parade at 3pm on Thursday !

How can I help manage my child’s allergy symptoms?

• If your child is showing allergy symptoms, try to reduce their exposure to pollen and mold with some of these pediatrician-approved tips:
• After coming inside from playing outside, have your child bathe their hair and body, then change into fresh, clean clothing. This will keep pollen off hair, skin and bedding.
• Keep windows and outside doors shut during pollen seasons, and run air conditioning on low to continually clean the air in the home.
• Don’t let your child play in moist outdoor areas, where mold can grow.
• Your child should stay indoors when grass is being mowed and avoid playing in fields of tall grass. If they do go outside in the morning or on windy days, they should wear a mask.
• Be aware that dogs and cats can also bring pollen and mold indoors. You may want to wipe pets down with damp towels or paper towels when they come in from being outside.
• Follow pollen counts. On days when they are very elevated, consider indoor activities or choose to go outdoors later in the day after the pollen counts have peaked.
• Wear a billed hat and glasses to minimize exposure to pollen in the eyes.

What medicine should I give my child for allergies?

• Your child may need medication to control allergy symptoms, so start with your pediatrician, who may prescribe antihistamines, and/or nasal corticosteroids.
• Your doctor may also refer you to a pediatric allergy specialist, who may recommend allergy testing and, if positive, consider immunotherapy (allergy shots) to reduce allergy symptoms and decrease the need for daily medication.
• Allergy medications should be given at home. If allergies are severe, please stop by the clinic to drop off medications. Medications should be brought in by an adult.

Future Generals, it's time to register for Kindergarten!

On April 21st GMAS testing will begin for all 3rd -5th graders. We ask all parents to make sure their 3rd -5th graders are at school on time and remain at school all day. Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and will end around 11:00 AM each day. Students who are late or absent will be able to take the assessment during make-up times, but let's try to avoid being late and absent if possible.
