Literacy Night: Reading Gives You Superpowers!
Mark your calendar for October 3rd! Everton will have a literacy night starting at 6:00 PM. Our theme this year is "Reading Gives you Superpowers!" Please plan to attend, as there will be several reading activities for students and their families, as well as; door prizes, goody bags, and photo props. Students and their families are welcome to come dressed as your favorite superhero! Our book fair will also be open in the school media center. As this is also our parent night, there will be information provided regarding Title I at Everton.
Early Release for Everton Students on Monday, October 7th!
Please remember that Monday, October 7th is an early release day for students at Everton. Students will be dismissed at 1:30. Creative Steps after school care is available, but you must arrange this with them in advance. Should you need this service, you can reach Creative Steps at 937-469-7785. Please remember that elementary schools have one early release day each month.
Parent & Teacher Conferences
Teachers are in the process of sending home communication regarding Parent/Teacher conferences. Please take advantage of an opportunity to conference with your child’s teacher during October. Parent/Teacher conferences are very important to the success of our students. The information that is shared during the conferences can be very valuable and helpful to parents, teachers, and the students alike. In addition to the information that the teachers share, the conference is also a good time for a parent to ask any questions they may have about the curriculum, academic standards, homework, classroom procedures or any other items of concern or interest. When parents and the school work together great things can happen in the lives of our students.
Important Dates in October
Red Ribbon Week
Mrs. Roberts, our school counselor, has organized some activities and special dress days for Red Ribbon Week. See the flier for more information.
New State Attendance Requirements
Please read through the flier that points out the new Indiana attendance requirements.
ILEARN Checkpoint Assessments
The Indiana Department of Education is piloting a new system of testing with ILEARN. The elementary schools in the Fayette County School Corporation are participating in the pilot. This is for students in grades 3-6. Students will be given a short math and ELA test three times on specific essential standards before taking the summative ILEARN. This will provide teachers, students, and parents information on standards students are mastering and standards that may require additional support prior to taking the summative ILEARN. Below is more information on the ILEARN Checkpoints.
