West Haven Highlights
Sept. 13, 2024
Hello Families
It's been another great week at West Haven. There have been some concerns about drop off/pick up that I want to address. The drop off lane seems to be moving pretty smoothly. Thank you for pulling all the way up. It helps us to keep things moving and get cars in and out safely and quickly. There seem to be more problems on the south side. Honestly this is something that we need your help to solve. If the curb is marked red, that is drop off only. Do not park. You must stay in your car and be ready to pull out once your child is safely out of the vehicle. Please do not wait for your student to walk all the way up to their classroom door. If you feel you need to provide this support to your child, please park in the parking lot and walk them to the playground. Parking causes safety issues and other parents try to double park because there is simply no way for them to drop off their child. It also helps if you allow your child to exit the vehicle when you are able to pull up to the sidewalk. They do not need to be dropped off directly in front of the gate opening. I will try to staff this are next week and be present myself. If we ask you to move up or remind you that this is a no parking zone, please be kind and courteous. We do this to keep all of our students safe, not because we like telling people what to do. U turns are also not allowed on this side. We have had students and cars almost get hit due to blind spot. Please take an extra minute or two to drive around the block. If everyone follows the markings and the signs it will run smoothly.
Please remember that our front doors do not open until 8:00am. Breakfast does not start until 8:00.
We do not have supervision for children outside until 8:20. Please be aware that the school cannot be responsible for students dropped off before 8:00.
We are gearing up for our school's 20th Anniversary Carnival. It will be like nothing we've ever done before. We hope to see everyone there! Thank you for your continued support.
