Dear parents and carers.
Thank you again for your support and enthusiasm for yesterday's Sports Day. It was lovely to see so many family members and friends enjoying their picnics on the field, and then to have such a great afternoon of sporting activities. Thank goodness summer arrived just in time!
Following their busy day of sport on Thursday, year 3 spent today in York at the Yorkshire Museum and Museum Gardens, finding out about Roman York. They were really interested in all of the history they investigated in the museum and then enjoyed the sunshine in the gardens, looking at the evidence of Roman life. We are very lucky to live so close to such an historical city.
As you know, year 4 spent time last term hoping to persuade the relevant authorities to reduce the speed limit outside school to a safer 20mph. Following their hard work, they were delighted to find out last week that they have been successful! It is fantastic that they have been able to see the difference they can make; hopefully the speed limit will be in place within a few months.
Finally, the Friends of Kirk Fenton Summer Fair takes place straight after school next Friday. There will be games and stalls, and some great food and drink too. We are really looking forward to this fun. family event and hope lots of you are able to join us.
I hope you have a restful weekend in the sunshine.

Message from Head Pupils
This week Kirk Fenton has gone sporting mad. On Tuesday 7 children from year 6 represented our school at a netball tournament where they won all three of their games. On Wednesday 16 children from year 1 went to Appleton Rowbuck primary school to participate in an athletics tournament where they finished an amazing 3rd! Finally, yesterday the whole school participated in Sports Day. Every team did really well, lots of points were scored, and the teams worked very hard in the glorious sunshine. Year three have gone on a school trip today to York where they all had a great time. Lets hope the sun keeps shining over the weekend.
Head pupil awards go to Jacob (Y6) and Eva (Y1)
