Saint Ambrose Teachers at the CSCOE Summit
School News
Dear Saint Ambrose Parents,
We had a great week of learning! I was able to be in classrooms throughout the week, and enjoy seeing first hand the discoveries students are making. We had a beautiful Mass on Wednesday, Father Sam talked to us about the gift of silence, and that when we practice a habit of silent prayer, we can better listen to God. Next week there is no school Mass on Wednesday, October 30 as we will celebrate the Feast of All Saints on Friday, November 1 at 9:45. Parents are always welcome to join us for Mass. The 4th graders will be singing in the choir. Thank you to Ms. Schneider and Mrs. Harvey for supporting our student singers.
Out of Uniform Reminders for next week:

School Emergency Closing Notifications -
This school year we will continue to use our Sycamore System for text and email notifications for school closures and delays due to inclement weather. You may also check Kare 11 and WCCO for notification that District 833 is closed - if they are closed we will be closed. Make sure to update Sycamore with your current phone numbers and emails as soon as possible.
Child Safety Curriculum
In November, classes will begin our child safety curriculum. Grades K-8 will be using the Monique Burr Foundations, Child Safety Matters curriculum. If you have any questions regarding the specific lessons being taught please contact your child's classroom (Grades 6-8 - Religion) teacher and they would be happy to share more information. This curriculum is required by the Archdioceses for all grade levels.
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.
As we welcome the autumn months,
may the earlier setting of the sun
remind us to take time to rest.
May the brilliant colors of the leaves
remind us of the wonder of your creation.
May the steam of our breath in the cool air
remind us that it is you who give us the breath of life.
May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and bounty we are to share with others.
May the dying of summer's spirit remind us of your great promise that death is temporary and life is eternal.
We praise you for your goodness forever and ever. Amen
Enjoy the weekend,
Betsy Osterhaus Hand
Principal

We are Looking for Help With a Few Things...
Substitute Teachers
If you are interested in being a substitute teacher at Saint Ambrose or know someone that is, please contact Dianna Helmberger at dhelmberger@saintambroseschool.org or 651-768-3078.
Please view the following presentation for more details and information - https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1AWeJsxdO371fNvSmQ9Q2W9CHmPaCI0ZQl4SHMeyFkFY/edit?usp=sharing. We also have a wonderful training that we can send new people to that is through CSCOE.
Volunteer helpers to walk students.
We have several students that receive speech services through the district. These services take place virtually at our school. We have found that when we have consistent help walking students from classrooms to the speech station, everything runs very smoothly. This is a volunteer position and it could be one day or multiple days. For more details contact Beth Salmon at bsalmon@saintambroseschool.org. or 651-768-3087.
Lunchroom and Recess Help
If you are interested in helping with recess or lunchroom supervision please contact Janet Seidenkranz in our school office. 651-768-3000.
Students Living the Virtues
During the second month of school, Saint Ambrose students will be practicing the virtue of kindness. The Saint Ambrose Way tenet that we will be connecting to this virtue during October is to Be Welcoming.
A few ways students can show kindness and be welcoming are:
Greet each other with a smile
Hold the door open for others
When a substitute is present, all class rules apply
Respond when spoken to
When asked a question, ask a question in return
Make eye contact when speaking
Shake hands when being introduced to someone
Know staff by name and greet them
Respect others’ comments and opinions
Avoid interrupting
We are all friends, and saving seats at lunch is not okay
Be open and inclusive of everyone
Please help support your student on their journey of being kind and welcoming to all we come in contact with.
Dear God,
“Help me to live your goodness and kindness each day. Remind me that my actions express who I am even more than my words".

Mission and Philosophy
Mission (what we offer)
We at Saint Ambrose School are part of a vibrant Catholic community supporting and nurturing
each child on their journey with Christ.
Through exceptional academics, embracing each child’s unique strengths and needs, and
joyfully engaging in prayer and service, we take a holistic, virtue-based approach to student
education and experiences. This is the Saint Ambrose Way.
Vision (what we aspire to)
As a thriving Catholic school, we create meaningful impact though each family we support and
student we send into the world.
By helping form the whole child, students are not only prepared well for the next level of
education, but life as Christian adults living the Saint Ambrose Way.
PHILOSOPHY
The Saint Ambrose community recognizes the partnership between parents, students, staff,
administration and parishioners in providing for the development of its members as people of
faith who worship, learn and grow together. As a community we have a responsibility to
support families- as the primary educators of their children- while providing enriching
experiences that promote a sense of belonging and responsibility to a community.
