Each instrument has a different supply list.

Supplies can be purchased from any local music store.

We recommend Tarpley or Music and Arts.

We ask that instrument rentals are taken care of in advance to ensure delivery to school by the first day of school, or earlier. The earlier you pre-order your delivery of supplies, the better.

Tarpley and Music and Arts can deliver instrument rentals and supplies to Otto for you.

No trip to a music store is necessary. Everything can be done online.

Some band instruments are school owned and are not rental instruments.

These include: Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba.

These instruments have a one time yearly usage fee of $85.

We ask that this be taken care of in August.

All other instruments are monthly rentals from a music store. See music store flyers below.

Our goal is to begin playing by the second week of school, which means all instruments and supplies need to be at Otto by the first day of school. Thanks!

The only change this coming school year from these lists is our change over to using the Tuner Caddy brand tuners with a pickup and a Tuner Caddy. These can be purchased through Tarpley Music, or from TunerCaddy.com. These tuners are more affordable, have a longer pickup cord for the microphone, and are transposing, too! Buy the bundle- tuner, pickup, and caddy. 🙌

We have several options to choose from, but we recommend Tarpley or Music and Arts as these stores offer fantastic service and visit Otto regularly for instrument repair.

Tarpley or Music and Arts can deliver your rental instrument and/or band supplies from our list to Otto by the first day of school so your child will be all set for their band adventure!

We recommend Dallas Percussion for all percussion students' supplies (https://www.denverpercussion.com/dallas.htm) and texasmarimas.com for their rental.

Private lessons are a valuable resource for all band students. Students are able to receive one-on-one instruction from a professional musician/teacher on their individual instrument. The private teachers address the individual student and provide instruction for improvement. Private lesson teachers compliment the student’s strengths by continually challenging the student and can also help with any difficulties the student may be having.

The cost is $25 per lesson for approximately 25-30 minutes before or after school or ½ the band period during the school day. Our music enrichment staff includes the very best musicians/teachers who enjoy working with PISD Band students. Please see the PISD Private Lesson Program Parent Information Sheet and the Private Lesson Registration Form for more information.

If you and your child would like to take advantage of this valuable experience, please return the Student Registration Form to Mrs. Harper or Mr. Killgo as soon as possible. Please call or email us if you have any questions or would like more information regarding this valuable program.

All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.

An email will be sent to the volunteer applicant communicating the status of their application and criminal history search within 3-5 business days of completing these steps. Volunteer approval status can also be viewed by the volunteer by logging into their account. Volunteers will need to complete the online orientation as well to be eligible to volunteer.

Once you have been officially approved, please email Mr. Killgo (philip.killgo@pisd.edu) to let him know you are an Otto Band Approved Volunteer! Thank you so much for your support of these kids.

Plano ISD charges an annual fee of $85 for the use of school owned instruments. This money is used to offset the cost of cleaning and maintenance after the student has completed the use of each instrument (so the next student receives a clean and sterilized instrument in good working order). Students are responsible for the maintenance of the instrument while it is in the student’s possession. Please send cash or check made payable to PISD to Mr. Killgo. Please have the student name and instrument in the memo line. This fee is due once each school year in August. Thank you!
