60 Seconds with the Superintendent
Marketing students at Strongsville High School finished last semester with a unique project opportunity. Juniors in Mrs. Naymik’s DECA program were tasked with designing a storage hook for their classroom. “Shark Tank” presentations were made by the student groups to a group of judges and included a prototype developed in the SHS Makerspace, as well as outlining pricing and distribution plans for their product. Click HERE for this week’s ‘60 Seconds’ episode to hear more about this Project Based Learning opportunity from the perspectives of teacher, judge, and student.

ASWATH MADHAN, 7TH GRADER AT SMS, WINS 3RD PLACE IN NATIONAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Aswath Madhan, a 7th grader at SMS, recently participated in the 2021 National K-12 Chess Championship in Orlando, FL. This Junior Grand Prix event was organized by The United States Chess Federation and featured 1,235 of the nation’s best scholastic chess players from all across the country. MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. CORI MESENGER, BUILDING SECRETARY AT CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Cori Mesenger joined the Chapman Elementary staff this year as Building Secretary. Prior to SCS, Mrs. Mesenger was a Children’s Librarian at the Cleveland Public Library. In her role, she worked with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, which “made me excited about the opportunity to work here at (Chapman Elementary).” She is also a current resident of Strongsville and her children are students at Chapman! Mrs. Mesenger earned her undergraduate degree from Kent State University and her graduate degree from Clarion University.
“I love how every day at Chapman is fast-paced and different! We have such nice students here and they come to school curious and excited. It's so fun to share in their elementary school experience. Chapman is a smaller school, and I love how family oriented it is. I've been a parent in this school for the past six years, and I have always been so impressed by how personal our experience is here. Now as our Building Secretary, I get to make families feel as welcome as I have always felt within this school community. It really does feel like family here,” said Mrs. Mesenger.
Thank you Mrs. Mesenger for being the friendly and smiling “first impression” for visitors to Chapman Elementary! #WeAreStrongsville
3=FREE FOR LUNCHES THROUGHOUT OUR DISTRICT
Did you know that students who pack their lunch can still receive FREE food items at school? Even if you are sending your student to school with food from home, they are still able to receive a fruit, vegetable, and milk for FREE! It's convenient and saves money for families - just pack the main item for lunch and let SCS Food Services take care of the rest!
