Cedar Grove Friday Flash
May 31, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
Last Wednesday, several of our former Cedar Grove students, who are now graduating high school, were celebrated during our traditional clap out. Our students and staff lined the hallways and gave enthusiastic claps and cheers as the graduates walked around the school building. Congratulations to the seniors who are moving on to their next educational journey!
Many thanks to the families who made donations of gently used sports equipment to Project Happy Feet. These donated items will be shared with students in lower income areas and Title I schools. We will continue collecting items until the end of the school year, so if you have any new and lightly-used shoes or sports equipment, please drop your items in the box in the main entrance foyer. For more information, please click on this flyer.
Career Day is Wednesday, June 5th. We have 30 volunteers joining us for Career Day next week! Our students will listen and ask questions to our presenters. They will also complete career activities in their classroom. Students are encouraged to dress in their future career clothing!

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
It is unfathomable to me that I am publishing the June/Summer Media Monthly -- time has just flown by. Please bookmark it as I will update it not only in the next few weeks, but also throughout the summer with important dates to start the 2024-2025 school year. The Summer Reading program for incoming Kindergartners through sixth graders is linked to the media monthly, as well. Please sign up your students for the MCPL reading program and help the MCPL donate funds to our parks (a very green thing to do which you know we love at Cedar Grove!). If you have a student who will not be attending an MCPS school or who is moving on to middle school next year, and you have an MCPS home use device, please return it to the media center. This coming week is Book Fair Week, which we all enjoy. On Friday, June 7, we will have our volunteer appreciation breakfast, which we hope our parent volunteers will attend so we can celebrate all you do for our school. We will also have our end of the year bash that evening, so we'll have a lot going on! Have a wonderful weekend!
