Every year the Department of Accelerated Programs & Gifted Education and the Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education asks all schools to select a student to be honored as the Gifted Student of the Year. The ceremony will be held at the ISC and will include gifted students from all Gwinnett County Schools. The gifted student of the year is a senior in the gifted program that have consistently demonstrated their gifted abilities over the course of their high school career.
Dress Code Policy
As the weather gets warmer, please be reminded of our school's dress code highlighted below:
A student's appearance should not be a distraction/disruption to the learning environment of any other student. Instruction is interrupted when a student has to be seen by an administrator because of inappropriate clothing. The guidelines for student dress are not intended to be punitive, but to promote academic success. The administration may have to address students whose clothing is disruptive to the learning environment.
The following guidelines are to promote a positive learning environment for SECKINGER Students:
Avoid any attire that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Attire in which undergarments are visible
- Attire that exposes the buttocks, midriff area, or with low or revealing necklines.
- No headgear is to be worn inside (Exceptions are granted by the administration)
- Any attire that depicts, promotes, or advertises gang affiliation, illegal activity, illegal drugs, alcohol or tobacco, sexual references, and offensive words or designs
- Jewelry or accessories that could be deemed unsafe or injurious to self or others
- House-slippers are not permitted
- No blankets or pillows
Disciplinary consequences will be issued for any student not adhering to the dress code.
Gwinnett Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Gas South Convention Center
On Thursday, February 27, students who produced the top 3% of projects from our school science fair were able to attend the Gwinnett Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Gas South Convention Center. This fair is the largest in the country and allows students to meet and interact with STEM professionals as judges and panelists as they compete with other projects from Gwinnett County. With over 800 middle and high school projects the fair is a great chance to network with peers and adults in STEM fields. Students presented their projects to at least three judges and then participated in learning sessions with Engineers from UGA, meteorologists from The Weather Channel, ThorLabs Mobile Photonics, Amazon Web Services, and more! Students wrapped up their day by viewing each other's projects and choosing their "Fan Favorite" project. Our students did a great job representing Science at SKG!
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) hosted its first-ever Valedictorian & Salutatorian Breakfast Celebration, recognizing the academic excellence of the district’s top graduates in the Class of 2025. Held in partnership with Stratix and the Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.®, the event honored the hard work, dedication, and achievements of these students. Congratulations again to Sarah Kwon, our 2025 Valedictorian, and Kaitlyn Pham, our 2025 Salutatorian.
