Hisle Happenings
August 1, 2024
It's getting CLOSER!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Hisle Elementary is getting closer to being ready for children to enter our building. Classroom furniture started arriving on campus the week of July 8th, and our warehouse has been busy inventorying 50+ pallets of materials that will be delivered to the campus. Our office team has been working since July 15th from a variety of places, and we got phones and internet yesterday! Teachers have been collaborating and getting to know one another during the summer, and it's been exciting to see the planning and conversations about what your children will be larning the first nine weeks of school. Staff will begin moving in on Monday, August 5th! We are going to be unpacking and labelling "textbooks" on Tuesday, August 6th and could use extra ADULT hands! If you've got a little bit of time, please sign up here! At this time, we are only allowing adults on campus while we are finishing up last minute painting, detail work, and more!
Keep reading to learn more about various wonderings you may have! I look forward to working with you and your family in the upcomng years!

WHO IS MY CHILD'S TEACHER?
AUGUST 8TH 5 pm: Communication from your child's teacher!
- Class placement is about your child...not the specific teachers. Hours are spent talking about each child, their academic history, and friendships to build groups of children.
- We worked with Plain and Bagdad staff to group children with a friend or in strong groups for learning...we know that your child's 23-24 teacher knew what they needed. When looking at groups, it's important to think about balance of gender, academic and social needs, and more.
OPEN HOUSE and. CAMPUS TOURS
As we get closer to summer, we know that families are making plans for summer! We wanted to share our Open House plans with you so your family can put it on the calendar NOW! To allow staff more time to prepare our building and classrooms, we will CANCEL New Family NIght on August 7th. We will host Open House with campus tours on August 12th between the hours of 2:30-6:30pm!
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
Hisle PTO!
Our Hisle PTO has worked throughout the summer generating ideas to encourage all families to find a place to engage in learning at Hisle! We purposely opted to become a PTO to build a community based on inclusion for all! At this time, each family and staff are a member of our PTO without any funds to "join". We're excited to partner together to provide enrichment opportunties such as field trips, assemblies and more! It's exciting to consider that 100% of us are part of Hisle!
Our next steps:
- VOLUNTEER NEEDS: Kandice Ding will serve as our fearless president. We are in need of a few people to serve as vice president of programs, room rep coordinator, and a few others! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to hislepto@gmail.com or niki.prindle@leanderisd.org
- FUNDRAISING/SPONSORSHIPS: Field trips and the buses to get us there are expensive. We anticipate it will cost about $1000 per grade level to fund each trip. In addition, we are hopeful to host an assembly each nine weeks with an educaitonal and/or cultural aspect to enrich what is already happening in classrooms! Our PTO is working to locate sponsors so if you know of a business or would like to sponsor, please send an email to HislePTO@gmail.com.
- August 12th: Visit the cafeteria after visiting your chid's teacher to learn more about Hisle PTO
Prepping for Back to Shool
School Supplies
Each year, you will receive a list of needed supplies for your child's classroom. Some of you purchased school supply kits and these will be delivered to your child's classroom. If you still need to shop, here is the link for each grade level list!
School Shirts
This year, the campus is supporting school spirit by organizing school t-shirts! We will wear our school shirts each Monday to show Hisle pride!
Leave Your Mark!
Ms. Beaty, our campus librarian, is busy ordering books for the campus library! We would love for your family to choose a title or leave your mark on the Hisle library by donating to our library. You can visit this website to purchase your favorite title or donate a dollar amount!
Staffing Needs
- Instructional Assistants: Hisle Elementary will open with a variety of programs with special education classes that are in need of instructional assistants! An instructional assistant is a valuable team member that provides assistance in many ways: teaching a small group, assisting with life skills, or supervising children at lunch. An instructional assistant needs to have 48 college hours and be able to sit, stand, and more! If you are interested in a full-time position, there are two steps to complete to receive an interview. First, apply online at www.leanderisd.org under the careers tab. Finally, please reach out to Marcia at 512.570.8412 or marcia.fields@leanderisd.org
- Campus Sub: If you are interested in subbing, Leander ISD is hosting informational sessions throughout the summer. We will be looking for one "campus" sub who would report to campus 5 days a week to sub wherever we have an opening! If you are interested in doing. this, please reach out to Robin.Harvey@leanderisd.org and apply to be a sub online!
