Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families,
As we approach the holiday season, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of our families. This time of year is perfect for reflecting on the wonderful moments we’ve had so far and the great things yet to come for our students. I hope you all have a safe, joyful and restful break. Enjoy this special time with your loved ones, create lasting memories and recharge for the new year. I am looking forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year!

Safety Message
Tragically on Monday, another school shooting occurred. This time in Madison, Wisconsin at Abundant Life Christian School. This tragedy will impact our communities, state, and nation. Our school police and our municipal partner agencies will be visible and vigilant as we close out the semester. Please stay alert as we are all part of the culture of safety. Additionally, the district has been continuously working to strengthen our safety protocols and has made significant investments in this area over the years. You can find a detailed overview of our efforts to maintain a safe learning environment on the FCS website, under A Culture of Safety. This includes information on our Safety Plans & Drills, and ongoing Investments in Safety.
When tragic events like this occur, our students may have questions about their safety at school. Please see the attached tips on how parents and educators can talk to children about violence. If staff and teachers have questions about our school safety efforts, then please review the information shared in the links.

Foundation News
Hard to believe the holidays are almost here! The Foundation has been working hard in the background on several projects and events the last few months…here are the latest updates:
- Fall Direct Giving:
- Raised $25,385, including approximately $3,800 from Corporate Matching. Thank you for helping us exceed our goal once again!!
- We’ve conducted most of our major incentive events, including the Principal’s Playground Ice Cream Party, Maker Space Day, Discovery Lab Family Night, and Lego Challenge Night. See fun pics below!
- The final incentive events (Lunch with a Teacher of Choice and Dolvin News Splash appearances) will be conducted in January. Parents of students who qualified will be contacted soon via email.
- Bluetooth screen adapters - DESF and school admin setup several test groups with different products, to determine which would work best in our school’s real-world conditions. With help from several teachers, we identified the best-performing product for our needs and budget, and are now in the process of procuring the remainder needed for the rest of the school!
- Renewed Flocabulary subscription for the school!
- Sound Clouds:
- We have a shortlist of high-performance product solutions, an exciting design reviewed by the school admin and DESF Board, and are working to secure an installer. Once selections and costs are finalized, we will be seeking FCS Facilities approval to move forward with installation!
- Coming soon...STEM Night for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families!
- Foundation is collaborating with PTA to bring an all-new STEM Night to Dolvin's 3rd-5th grade families. Save the date for this awesome FREE event full of exciting experiments and STEMonstrations - January 29th, from 4-5 PM at school.
- Get ready for the change-up..."Spring Fun Run" will be a February Glow Dance Party!
- What's changing? The DESF Board has begun the process of moving its Spring Fun Run to the Fall to help ease the burden of Spring activities at school. To accomplish this, we are pushing this school year's event a little earlier and changing the format to an indoor Glow Dance Party! Fundraising will kick off Monday, February 3rd and culminate with the "Dance Your Heart Out" event on Valentine's Day - Friday, February 14th!
- What's the same? Proceeds will primarily go to support another year of Discovery Lab - the beloved bi-weekly STEM class for all Dolvin students. (We are so fortunate to have this amazing class, and we want to keep it going!) As usual, any additional funds we raise will also go toward resources that support and enhance our children's academic experience. And another thing that'll be the same as last year: EVERY DOLLAR GOES TO DOLVIN!
- We'd love your help! Email us if you're interested in helping plan or put on this FUN event.
- 5th Grade Graduation Mementos
- To celebrate our 5th graders' academic achievements, we're coordinating with sponsors to offer some unique mementos this Spring semester - special graduation tees and yard signs! More details coming soon.
Thank you for your continued support! We hope all our Dolvin families have a fun, fantastic, and restful holiday break - see you in 2025!
